Ruth knocked on my door.
"You didn't have to come over here just to comfort me," I told her as I opened the door.
"For one, I didn't come here to comfort you, I came here for the tea," she told me, "And two, you don't know how much effort it took me to escape–I mean, come all the way over here out of the goodness of my heart, honey!" She crossed her arms. "It's not like we're friends or anything."
"Ruth, you're really comforting me," I said as I wiped a tear from my eye. She looked at me, shocked.
"B-but I just insulted your dead husband..." I grabbed her arm.
"I know, and that hurt my feelings, but I'm just glad that his death isn't affecting you as much as it's affecting me," I smiled a little. "Come on in."
