Imagine my surprise when I stepped into the common room and saw my parents, sure it was 'Family Weekend' but I never in a million years thought they would show up.

Fuck, this place feels more like summer camp than it feels like rehab, I mean we have an 'activities coordinator'.

"Mom, Dad" I watch as they look me up and down, I don't know what they expected me took look like.

"How are you doing son?" My father asks as we go to one of the tables and sit down, he's also replying to a text message as we speak.

"I'm fine"

"Are you eating enough Derek, you look awfully thin" my mother tells me as she points at my stomach.

"Yes"

"Why the attitude, son?" He looks at me over his eyeglasses.

I want to laugh in his face, "just find it funny that you're here, that's all"

He huffs and puts his phone in his pocket, I guess I have his undivided attention now "and what the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"I find it odd that you never visited me when I was in the hospital or the few weeks, I was in county, and now you show up here, what's the catch?"

"I told you this was a mistake, honey" he gets up and pushes the chair in "we're leaving"

Just like that they're gone, my mother just following his every command, some things never change.

I go back to my room and my thoughts drift to that little baby, he's gotta be almost seven months old now.

I can feel my skin crawl, I need beer or a few pills to chase the thought of him from my mind.

I scour the halls looking for him, I don't know how he ends up getting shit in here, but I'm happy as hell he does.

-----Note-----

I know I said a day or two before an update but I'm bored out of mind, so here's something.
