I can tell Al and the sales lady are both getting annoyed with my indecision but I need it to be perfect.
"Can I see that one again?" I can hear her try to stifle a sigh as she swaps out the two out, "I'm sorry" I tell her.
"Kid, how many do you need to see?" Al questions his hands in his pockets and I swear he's tapping his toe "you could get her one of those lollipop rings and she'd love it"
"That's funny Al" I looked over the ring again and knew it was the right one "this one, this is it" I tell the sales lady, I happen to see another display case.
"Now what Adam?"
I look over the items in the case, it contains different 'mother' necklaces and I can't help myself "I need one of these also" it's a simple necklace the word mother in script on a very simple necklace.
I can see Al smile "you did good kid, Kim's going to love that. Maybe even more than the ring"
"When will the ring be ready?" I ask, I'm dying to ask Kim to marry me and I don't know now long I can wait.
"Should be ready the beginning of next week" she says as she hands me the necklace already wrapped. "Good luck, Mr. Ruzek"
"Thanks!"
"Ruzek, have you spoken to Halstead lately?" Al asks, he eyes briefly meeting mine as he drove.
"No, not since I got out of the hospital. What's up?"
"Erin is worried about him, I was hoping you two had been in touch"
He pulls into the driveway, "try not to worry kid, she's gonna say yes"
I smile as I open the door, I will be happy when I can use both of my arms, "thanks, and I will give Jay a call"
