Emily's POV

Months Later

Time flew by so quickly, and just as I had anticipated, staying in this house was challenging. Aware of the danger lurking there, I was constantly filled with fear. I dreaded the possibility that at any moment, they would discover the reason for my presence here and execute me, just as they did to Marco's brother and mother. Hence, every step I took in this house was meticulously planned.

I tried to keep a low profile, but that proved challenging. Every single person who caught sight of me seemed to react as though they had seen a ghost. I still couldn't understand why, but honestly, I didn't care.

On the other hand, Don Jason made my life here a living hell, but I didn't expect any less from him — he was the devil himself, and I couldn't wait for his downfall.

The only bright spot in my stay here is Aurora. I didn't know how it happened, but she slowly began to warm up to me. But deep down, my heart still ached because Marco hadn't called me as he had promised.

"Emily... Emily," Aurora's urgent voice broke through my reverie.

"Yes, my little Koala," I responded, immediately focusing on her.

"What's on your mind?" she inquired.

"It's nothing, my love. Do you need anything?" I asked, a gentle smile gracing my lips. But before Aurora could respond, the door burst open, and Anna's voice cut through the air.

"Emily, Aurora needs new clothes, and you have to take her to the mall," she declared, her tone commanding.

"New clothes? I don't need any. My closet's overflowing; I haven't even worn half of it," Aurora retorted defiantly, her determination palpable. A small chuckle escaped me at her unwavering resolve.

"The orders are from your grandfather. The bodyguards are already out waiting for you both," Anna said firmly.

"But I don't want to go. Emily and I are just fine playing with my dolls," Aurora protested, her voice filled with reluctance.

"It's your grandfather. You know you can't disobey him," Anna insisted, her tone brooking no argument. Aurora grumbled in response.

"Emily, say something," Aurora pleaded, moving closer to me and grabbing my hand, silently urging me to intervene and find a way out of the situation.

"I'm sorry, Koala, there's no way out for us. But don't worry, I'm sure it'll be fun," I said reassuringly, smiling at her.

She fell silent for a moment, then nodded slowly.

"If you say so, I trust you," she said, a shy smile playing on her lips.

"Great, why don't we get you ready," I suggested. and she nodded and followed me into the closet.

Aurora's obsession with pink was no secret, so I dressed her in a lovely pink dress that complemented her perfectly. As I braided her hair, I couldn't help but admire how beautiful she looked. Completing her ensemble with her favourite pink bag, I stepped back to admire my handiwork.

"All done. You look like the princess that you are," I said, a warm smile spreading across my face. Her eyes sparkled with delight at the compliment.

"How about you? Won't you get ready?" Aurora's voice carried a hint of anticipation as her gaze travelled from my head to my toe.

Aurora's question caught me off guard, and I couldn't help but chuckle at her curiosity.

"I'm already ready," I replied with a grin, gesturing to my attire. "But thank you for checking my little Koala," I added, appreciating her attention to detail.
