"Tio Kan!"
Khun Maelle called to Vegas' father and hugged him tightly.
"Maelle, it's been a long time. How have you been? I see you've grown into a beautiful young lady. Ahh, seeing you guys side by side, all I can say is perfect." Khun Kan commented and smiled brightly to Khun Maelle."Come, let us go inside to talk about your marriage." Khun Khan added. I saw him glanced at me and I shuddered; he doesn't like me for his son.
"Right now? Maelle just got here, you ain't letting her rest first?" Vegas interjected. Clearly he isn't in the mood to talk about this arrange marriage. He's so not in the mood. I can tell. The bulging veins in his neck and temple that make him heave slower and deeper breaths as he tries to calm the anger that arises within him gave him away.
"I understand that however, this marriage will happen two weeks from now. I have so many meetings I can not cancel, I am a busy man. The both of you can rest after our talking." Khun Kan reasoned out and gave them a meaningful smile.
The smile looks like if any one present says another word that goes against his wishes will drop dead.
Vegas did not uttered another word and walked inside when Khun Kan motioned inside.
"Come inside, Magnus. As for you, Pongsakorn, your service is no longer needed here. I expect you back to the major clan tomorrow morning." Khun Kan said and went inside.
"This is so not going the way we want it to." Khun Magnus commented and heaved a tired sigh.
What should I do? Every time I take a step forward to saving Khun Vegas, I'm being force to take five steps back and it's just outright infuriating and depressing.
"If only I could do something..." I murmured and clenched a handful of my hair as frustration starts creeping down my throat, strangling me.
"You should probably head to the main mansion tonight, Pete." Khun Magnus said and I turned to him, slightly irritated.
"If I go back now, I don't think I could ever go back. You heard Khun Kan. He definitely knows about me and Vegas. He won't let me go near him anymore." I blurted out to the point that my lungs started hurting as I realized I said those words in a flash I don't even know if Khun Magnus caught what I said.
"I know Pa more than you do, Pete. I must remind you, I am the fake favorite son here. So listen to me when I say you need to go back to the main mansion now. If my calculations are correct we can turn the tables before the wedding." Khun Magnus said and smiled at me reassuringly.
"You're creepy." I said without thinking and he pouted.
"I just smiled at you and you think I am creepy?! You're hurting my feelings Pete!" Khun Magnus shouted like some spoiled brat whom his parents did not allowed to buy that chocolate near the counter and acted as if he was crestfallen.
"You're just too mental." I replied and he smiled a little.
"I get that a lot." He heaved a loud sigh and continued, this time he was staring at me intently.
"I really want this to work Pete because I do not want to regret giving something away because my younger brother wanted it more; like he'll die if he can not get it. All my fancy life, I have wanted and got everything I ever desired; things, properties, money, beautiful women, gorgeous men, name it. Whatever I want, I surely will get it. But this time, I have been offered something more precious, Vegas and Macau. I live for them, Pete. For my brothers. So, I beg of you Pete. I am doing my part and more --- everything I can give and offer to help my brother keep it because I am afraid that if he fails to keep it, I'll have it for myself and God knows how I'd do everything in my power, even ruining this bond just to have it for myself and mind you, what's mine is mine alone." Khun Magnus confessed and I could see how he's in so much pain being in a tug of war of two things he desires and so desperately wanted to possess be suppressed by his love towards his brothers.
"That's deep." Is what I only managed to say as I was rendered speechless from the sudden confession.
"Yeah, well, what do you think of me? Always crazy and carefree?" Khun Magnus asked me in disbelief.
"Yes." I replied and laughed when he looked at me like he had never heard such bullshit before.
"You're impossible." He commented and shook his head like how Asian moms do it with their hands on their waist and their mouths hanging out low from stupefaction.
"Seriously, Pete. Go tonight, I'll tell Vegas about it. Let him think you care little about him by not telling him you're going. We need Pa to think you're abandoning him. Only then, he'll loosen up a bit and we can go with our plan." Khun Magnus said and place his right arm around my shoulder, he lead me inside, to my room.
"What plan?" I asked, confused.
"The hell, Pete? We've been talking for ages! To stop the wedding, of course! And if it's the God's will, to save him. We can not really have him walk like a free man, away from all this mafia thing since he is a pureblood Theerapanyakul, but more like he'll live more of a man who knows what peace is." Khun Magnus answered and helped me pack my bags.
"Thank you, Khun Magnus." I showed my gratitude and smiled at him.
"You really look lovely smiling like that, Pete. No wonder you got Vegas salivating on your whole being." Khun Magnus commented and chuckled.
"Salivate? That's an exaggeration." I replied. That's just too much of admiration that might suggest a negative thing when people hears it.
Personally, I don't mind.
"Oh, trust me. I know. I'm one hella sexy Swedish with one hella sexy mind." He said and I think I can smell and excessive amount of self-satisfaction coming from his way that it's burning my nostrils to ash.
"Okay." I just agreed.
He laughed heartily and walked towards me to hand me the things we have packed.
He kissed my forehead and smiled at me.
"Goodluck, Pongsakorn."
