Chapter 1 - My Turn to Make Choices

 (Edited)

3 Months Later

"Myra get your fat ass here, we're going to be late!" Sally shouted.

I leaned against my door frame, "So?" I asked not fussed about the fact that I was going to be late.

"So?" An exasperated Sally asked. I folded my arms and raised my eyebrow waiting for her to answer me.

"If we mess this up, you," she pointed at me, "can deal with your mother and do not expect any help from me."

"Arghhh." I screamed in frustration as I pulled my hair in annoyance. "Fine let's go." I said as I picked my handbag up.

We were standing outside the café, where I was supposedly meant to meet some guy who was interested in my online profile. I honestly did not like him already, but I had no choice in the matter but to meet him, it was entirely my mother's fault. How I wish she could just leave me alone and just believe that I could find my man, in my own time but I guess that is not happening.

I opened the door to the café and walked in with Sally following behind me. I looked around the warm comfy café, breathing in the nice brewing coffee scent while I was looking around minding my own business but soon I spotted him. I quickly walked towards the opposite side of the café and sat down covering my face. "What are you doing?" asked Sally, confused.

"Have you seen him?" I asked shocked. "You honestly think he and I will click?" I asked as I nodded towards the guy. He sat there drumming his fingers on the table nervously. He had his hair gelled back to one side, seemed like his mother helped him. Oh god, I just feel bad thinking like that. I am not stereotyping when it comes to people; it's just honestly my mother should know the types of guys I like. She is making me go insane, letting these guys down each time. I bet they have a hope of finding someone to love and then I come along and ruin their dreams. I might not be the girl they want, but hey I would like to think that, just to help me sleep at night.

"I don't want to go there and break his heart."

"Honestly?!" She looked at me with an 'are you fucking serious' look. "I'm sure you won't break his heart, maybe upset him but break his heart, no love."

I stuck my tongue at her, "Fine, let's get this over and done with."

"Are you not going to talk to him?" Sally asked in shock.

"If you tell my mother," I said innocently looking down at my nails. "Well, you would wish you hadn't'." I threatened her as I narrowed my eyes at her. My poor best friend just gulped nervously, I just loved winding her up.

I stood up and straightened my top before I walked to the guy sitting on the opposite side. Oh fuck! What's his name? I couldn't go back to ask Sally because he already saw me and smiled brightly at me.

"Hi." He stuck his hand out to shake with mine; I instantly noticed how his hand shook maybe due to nervousness.

"Hi." I smiled back as I took his hand in mine.

"Would you like some tea, coffee?" He asked me as he tried to get the attention of the waiter.

"Coffee please," I smiled at him.

The waiter came and took our orders, while this guy placed the order, I checked him out. He was cute but in a nerdy way especially with his dark framed glasses. After some time, I gave him the talk, that I wasn't interested. I hated being the bad girl and always saying that I wasn't interested. I honestly needed to talk to my mother and tell her to butt out.

I will change the password so my mother and Sally couldn't interfere. Yes, that's a great Idea. I said to myself.

I walked out of the café and met up with Sally. "How did it go?" She asked excitedly.

"Crap." I said expressionless as I started walking down the street.

Her bright smile instantly turned to a frown. "B-but that was the longest time you had spent time with a guy compared to the other four."

"I just found it hard saying, no I am not interested." I took a deep breath before saying, "I have decided you and my mother will not interfere with my love life anymore. I promise I will keep looking for a guy but he will be my type. Got it?" I asked.

"Yeah. Got it," she answered.

"Good you can go tell my mother too."

"Why me?" She cried out.

"Well, it was you two who came up with this outrageous plan so you deal with my mother now."

She narrowed her eyes, "I hate you," she murmured.

I chuckled, "Yeah, sure you do."

We made our way to our apartment. Yes. It had been two months since I have left my mother's den and moved in with Sally. I was currently working part time as a librarian whereas Sally took an internship in journalism. She had a fond of capturing a scene in front of her and creating a piece of art with her words and expressions. I know her work will be recognised in the near future with her accomplishing her dreams whereas me, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. All I knew was I wanted to work in a big-shot organisation and that I had to make money so I didn't have to rely on my mother.

We went into the apartment and the first thing I did was crash onto the sofa as Sally went over to the kitchen and took out a tub of ice cream and brought it over. I took the spoon from her and took a bite, letting the mint flavour melt inside my mouth. I dug my spoon in the ice-cream as I said, "Okay, let's get to work; you ring my mother and I bring the laptop."

Sally groaned. "Do I have to do it now?"

"Yes, get to it." I said as I ran to my bedroom to fetch my laptop.

I brought the laptop back to the couch and set it on my lap while I heard Sally telling my mother that I was capable of finding someone on my own. Sally moved the phone from her ear as she said to me, "She expects you to give her your progress on your online dating situation."

I sighed. "Of course she does." I muttered to myself.

Sally looked at me impatiently. "Well?"

"Of course," I said as I rolled my eyes.

"She said its fine." I heard her say before I focused on the screen in front of me. Now let's see, who do I want off my page?

I scroll down the page as I removed most guys off my page but one profile stood out to me. I don't know why but I wanted to find out. I clicked on his profile.

Name: Chris Chezny

Age: 24

Location: In Your dreams

Occupation: You really don't want to know!

About Myself: Honestly I would hate to bore you by telling you how wonderful I am by attaching my name to a bunch of flattering adjectives. I believe words are cheap but actions speak louder, so why should I bother? Why not just start with the bad stuff, I am impulsive and restless at times. I swear too often. I am into chick flicks and I'm not going to deny it. I stay up way too late for my own good. Whereas my good qualities....well, I guess you will have to find out. ;) If you're still interested after all my negative qualities I have written, what are you waiting for? Message me :)

I clicked on his profile picture and wow he was stunning, he had long blonde hair that fell just over his eyes. He had beautiful brown eyes as he smiled showing his white teeth.

I don't know why but he intrigued me after reading his profile.

I looked and saw he was online. But before I could click to start a message, my laptop beeped to let me know I received a message in my inbox. I reluctantly clicked on it and my heart skipped a beat to see a message from Chris.
