Chapter 17- Speeding Things Up

(Edited)

"I think I'm having a heart attack." I told Sally as I gripped my chest.

Sally gave me 'are you kidding me' look, "No you're not Myra, your just shocked and maybe little bit nervous."

"I know how I am feeling and I am telling you I'm having a heart attack." I whined as I shut my eyes to calm myself down with this weird feeling that's flowing around my body.

"Oh god! Your such a big baby." Sally stated.

"Can you stop insulting me, first you call me a coward and now a big baby!" I exclaimed.

"Well act like a grown up then I won't."

At that moment I realised I needed to reply back to Chris. Oh my! What am I going to write back? This can't be happening to me. I squeezed my eyes shut as I tried to calm myself down and think of a response to write back. Why was I so stupid to mention a date? It was a damn joke!

Or was it? Maybe subconsciously you really wanted this and the reply you sent him about 'making it up to you by a date' was a trigger to help you with this outcome; my inner self spoke to me. Argh! I scrunched my hands in my hair as I put my head on my knees. You must be joking me! I did not want this! But why was I feeling this nervous to even think about going on a date with him? Why was I even so nervous to reply to him and why do these butterflies erupt in my stomach as soon as I think about him and me together. I got up from the floor and started to pace around the room as I thought about this situation. Okay maybe I did want this, but does Chris want this? I pondered about the last question, hmm does Chris want this? I am not really sure perhaps it was a hypothetical question to see my response. Yes it must be that, why else would he ask me on a date? We don't really know each other, we hardly talked except for our banter which I don't really see as a conversation.

"Myra, stop over thinking it and sit down you're making me dizzy." Sally interrupted.

I sat down next to Sally and gripped her arm which made her wince in pain, I quickly let her go. "What am I going to reply? What do I do?" I asked her with my insides dreaded with fear.

"I don't know, you reply whatever you want." Sally told me

"B-but you got more experience." I argued back.

Sally rolled her eyes and looked at me "Yeah and where has that left me? " She raised her eyebrow at me.

I quickly composed myself and rolled by shoulders to relax my body. "I don't know why I am acting weird about this, I can reply to him without causing so much drama. "I said to myself calmly. I got the laptop and hit the 'reply' button.

To: Chris

Was that a hypothetical question?

From MD

"There done and dusted." I said to Sally.

"What did you write?" She asked curiously.

"Was that a hypothetical question?" I replied innocently.

"Argh not it was not a hypothetical question!" Hissed Sally with annoyance.

"No that was my response." I admitted.

"Why did you write that for?" Sally groaned.

"What? I asked you for advice which you gave me none, so I wrote the first thing that came in my head. FYI you cannot have a go at me, I did ask for help." I hissed.

"Why couldn't you just reply with a simple yes or no, that's what I expected from you." She argued back.

I started to pace the room again with my hands waving in the air as I replied back to Sally with annoyance. "Hell no, what if he just asked in a theoretical way and me being stupid answered with a simple yes that would have cause him to laugh at me or make some lame joke about me to his friends." I huffed.

"Oh my gosh, you seriously need to stop over thinking everything and look at the world in much simplified way."

"Well it's hard to let go of old habits." I muttered.

At that moment my laptop made a 'ping' noise letting me know I got a message. I quickly ran to my computer and looked at his response.

From Chris

No it wasn't a hypothetical question....I would honestly like to meet you and to get to know you for who you are :)

I'll be waiting for your reply

Chris

That response melted my heart. I looked at Sally who was smirking at me, "You so need to say yes." She grinned at me.

The idea of meeting Chris was nerve wrecking but I felt excited at the same time. But can I really trust a stranger from a dating profile who I have a huge crush on? Imagine for a second at the other end is a creepy old guy, not Chris. My smiled started to falter, what if Chris is not who I imaged it to be? Can I really risk that?

"I can't say yes," I said.

"Why not?" Sally looked at me confused but before I could speak she started talking. "Please do not tell me your excuse is something like, "I can't see him because I don't who will be at the other end." Sally said as she tried to imitate my voice.

I scratched my head and admitted "Well, yeah."

"What am I going to do with you?" She asked as she got up from her seat and snatched the laptop off from me.

I groaned, "Please don't say that you remind me of my mother."

I saw her typing away on the keyboard and I started to panicked. "What are you doing?" I asked in a terrified voice and quickly got up to see what she was writing on the laptop. But I was too late she had already sent the message.

"Done and dusted." Sally said happily as she clapped her hands in excitement.

"What did you write?" I asked in shock.

To: Chris

Great :) Just let me know the time and place x

From MD

"Why did you write that?" I asked annoyed

"Myra, let's be honest If it was up to you, you will be making the same action that I just did in twenty years' time. You would have over thought about every little detail before you moved your ass to do something about it. So me being your greatest and sexiest best friend I just speeded things up for you." She gave me smile.

Before I could even respond to Sally my computer 'pinged' to let me know Chris has messaged me.

From: Chris

Well I am happy that you feel the same :D How about Sunday evening? I will have to drive up to your end which would be a long drive...

From CC

I looked up at Sally confused. "I thought you said he lived here?" Sally asked me.

"Yeah I did but," At that moment I understood why he said he had a long drive. "Oh he thinks I live here." I pointed at the screen of my profile page which showed my fake address.

"Oh no wonder, we'll let him know where you live."

I nodded at her response.

To: Chris

Yes Sunday will be fine for me but I do need to mention that I live in London so you won't have to endure a long drive lol

From MD

From: Chris

Ah I see your already lying to me...I better keep my heart safe :P

I shall message you tomorrow to confirm the date :)

From CC

I looked at Sally with a huge smile plastered on my face and with the excitement building up in my body there was only one thing I could do which was jump around like a crazy person. Once I calmed down, I lay on the sofa and looked up at the ceiling as one thought was running around my mind 'I was going to go on my first official date ever.'
