Chapter 23- E for Embarrassing Dinner
(Edited)
I woke up the next beautiful morning feeling relieved and happy that I wouldn't be seeing Ethan's handsome face today. The last few days at the office have been uncomfortable and awkward from my behalf; I wasn't sure how Ethan felt. Maybe for him that little incident in the kitchen was nothing. Ever since then I have remained professional as I always did but I tried not to think of Ethan in any other way accept as my boss which I should have done from the start rather than letting his good looks cloud my judgment. I sat up in bed stretching my body letting any clamped muscles to relax; I decided to jump in the shower before I stuff my face with breakfast.
As soon as I finished my shower and changed into my comfy clothes I went to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast but as soon as I stepped in I decided against it. The whole kitchen was a mess there was flour all on the worktop, dirty dishes cluttered in the sink and all over the kitchen. Puddles of water settled on the floor. In the middle of the clutter and mess was Sally with her head in her hands.
"What the hell happened here?" I wailed.
Sally looked up with a defeated expression. "Don't ask."
"Honestly Sally what are you doing this early in the kitchen?" I looked around in confusion.
"Early?" She scoffed. "Darling it's three in the afternoon."
"Three," I repeated. I looked at the clock attached to the wall and yes, it was three in the afternoon. I guess waking up really early in the morning five times a week can be tiring, oh, plus Ethan Cole it's more than tiring it's frustrating. I couldn't help but smile I just had a great sleep and I don't feel exhausted plus no Ethan Cole today. Oh yes! I could do a happy dance right now that's how happy I felt.
"What's got you smiling?" Sally asked.
"Oh just the fact it's my day off."
"Myra, could you do me a favour?" Sally pleaded.
I narrowed my eyes at her, "What favour?" I hesitantly asked. Not sure what Sally was going to ask me.
"Could you please make the dessert?" Sally begged.
"Dessert?" I asked confused.
"Yes dessert." Sally rolled her eyes at my confused expression.
I folded my arms across my chest, "Tell me what's happening? The kitchen is all messy, you look like you failed something miserably and you're asking me to make dessert!"
Sally looked at me like I lost my mind, "I haven't failed miserably!" She retorted.
"Okay, sorry." I held my hands up in a surrender motion.
"Today's the dinner."
"What dinner?" I asked.
"You know the one I called Mr Cole." Sally rolled her eyes at me.
At that moment I felt like someone chucked a whole bucket of freezing water over me. I froze and stared at Sally as if she grew another head. "E-E-Ethan." I stuttered.
"Yes."
Her answer jolted me awake from the frozen cold statue that I felt. "Why?" I shrieked.
"Remember I asked him in front of you in the living room..." Sally said trying to jolt my memory to that specific annoying moment where she opened her mouth and asked that stupid man to dinner.
"Yes I do, arghh I could hit you so bad right now. Why did you have to open your stupid mouth?" I roared in anger as I stated to pace the dirty kitchen trying to stay away from the puddles on the floor.
