Chapter 3- Dreamer
(Edited)
I woke up as I felt the bright sunlight streaming through my window on to my face. I tried to fall asleep as I pulled the duvet over my head to get away from the bright sunshine, when suddenly I felt the duvet being pulled off me. I winced at the brightness and sat up on the bed.
“Come on sleepy head, you've got work today.” I looked at her, confused but instantly the light bulb worked in my head and remembered I had work today. I quickly shot up and went to the bathroom to have a quick shower before I got dressed.
When I’ve finished taking the quickest shower, I picked up my clothes and put them on instantly. I looked at my reflection to see if I looked presentable for work.
I didn't have anything against the way I looked before but the make-over three months earlier has just helped me to feel confident and comfortable in my own skin. I remember before my final exams in my third year of studying Business Management, I had said to Sally that after university I wanted to have a make-over as a new chapter of my life. I wanted to feel like a different person as I would be taking a new route to build my career and life.
My shoulder length black hair with layers had a 'messy look' with a lot of volume, the way I liked it. I must say, I do look like a different person compared to how I looked before. I quickly pulled my hair up in a high messy bun and picked my favourite mango flavoured lip balm as I smeared it on my lips.
I smiled at my reflection to show myself that I am happy with my life but the smile didn't even reach my eyes. What am I doing? Denying that I'm happy; how would that help? Sally got her whole life planned knowing what she wants in life whereas me, I had no idea. 4 months ago I graduated with a degree in Business Management and where am I now, working in a stupid library as a librarian. When I started with a degree, I had a lot of hope in working up to the top in one of the top organisations in the world. Look at me now. I shook my head to snap myself out of my thoughts as I tried smiling again but this time trying to be more optimistic that my life will be better and I will get where I want one day.
I walked to the kitchen and sat on one of the bar stools as Sally handed me my mug of coffee and a plate full of toast. She sat opposite of me with a mug in one hand and the content of the newspaper on the worktop. I picked up a slice of toast and spread strawberry jam on it. Before I could take a bite of my toast, Sally squealed so excitedly that I froze looking at her, confused.
She pushed the newspaper to me. “Look, it's Ethan Cole.” She sighed with a big smile on her face as she went to her dream land, daydreaming about Ethan Cole. I looked down to see a huge picture of him, wow he looked dashing.
Ethan Cole is every girl’s dream guy; he's got the looks and the wealth that any girl would die for. Well, he is good looking with his radiant and perfect looks. His skin glowed like a sun gleaming and I couldn't help but admire his perfect clear skin. His smooth black hair was struck in every direction giving him a sexy, messy look and his blue eyes shone bright. He definitely knew how to look good in a picture; I'm sure he looks much better in reality.
“Have you finished staring at the picture?” smirked Sally.
I rolled my eyes. “Yes.”
“Isn't he just, wow?” Asked Sally with excitement.
“Yes he is and I'm sure with those looks he must have a line of girls waiting to approach him. Honestly looking at his images, it seems like he's an egoist.”
Sally gasped. “How can you say that?”
“With my sweet mouth,” I winked at her.
“Whatever.” She muttered. I chuckled at her behaviour as I swiftly picked up my coat and my bag and dashed out.
