Chapter 18- First Date, First Mistakes
(Edited)
"I am so nervous." I confessed to Sally as she went through my wardrobe to find me something to wear for my first official date. Why am I feeling anxious? Is it cause I am going to see Chris for the first time and I'm thinking how I'm going to act around him or what I'm going to say? Kind of but I'm most concerned about Chris thinks' my name is Lisa and he must expect the blonde version of me attending the date when honestly I look so different with my black hair. Even my university mates hardly recognise me, what chances are he would?
"You have nothing in there for you to wear on a date." Huffed Sally as she pointed towards my wardrobe. She looked at her watch and her eyes widened in shock, "We have only two hours to get you ready! We need reinforcement." Sally mumbled fast as she whipped her mobile phone from her pocket and dialled a number.
"Reinforcement?" I asked confused.
But Sally ignored as she chatted frantically on the phone, "Hi, Myra's got a date in two hours and I cannot find anything for her to wear. I have TWO hours to find her a dress, do her hair and her makeup. I really need some back up here.......Great see you in 10." Sally smiled contently as she cut the call.
"Who did you call?" I asked even though I knew the answer clearly.
"Holly and Leah." Said Sally Happily. " I never thought this day would ever come, me helping you getting ready for your date." Said Sally as she played with the hem of her shirt, deep in thought.
" I know." I agreed with her as I looked up at her , I could see she was miles away from here in her own little world. "Sally, are you thinking about-"
"No don't say it." She whispered as she hung her head down with her hair covering most of her delicate face. I didn't have to move the hair to see what expression she had cause I knew it was hurt and sadness. After few seconds she cleared her throat and looked up with a small smile. "I'm sorry" She mumbled as she started to play with the hem of her shirt again.
Before I could say anything the doorbell rang, Sally's shoulder sagged in relief I guess she knew I was going to mention 'the forbidden topic'.
"Look's who's here." Sally smirked at me as she nod towards the door, there stood Holly and Leah with two big pink cases (looked more like massive suitcases). "What's in them?" I asked.
"Wow Myra no greeting for us? Down to business already? She's eager to get to Chris isn't she." Holly jested.
"No I'm not I'm just merely asking what's in them?" I retorted.
"It's everything a girl needs on a date." Said Leah she dragged the case into the living room and dumped it in the middle as she made her way to me for a hug. Before I could even break from Leah, Holly ran to us and hugged us both. "How could you guy's leave me out."
"Okay enough of the hugging, we have little time to transform this ugly ducking into a beautiful swan." Joked Sally.
I punched Sally's arm, "You can sometimes be really mean." I said with a frown.
Sally giggled, "You know I was joking."
Leah clapped her hands which got our attention, "Right have you found Myra an outfit yet?"
"No I haven't, The dresses I liked she said no to every single item. I'm sure I do not have a bad taste it must be Myra."
I punched Sally again for the remark. "Ouch!"
"Serves you right." I stuck my tongue at her.
"Well we bought few dresses that we thought Myra might like." Said Holly.
