I'm going on vacation 6/18 so I may not update until 7/13, which is a few days after I come back. Well actually, maybe I will. I may update one more time on Monday. :)

Chapter Twelve

Maybe You Should Call A Truce

This was exactly the reason why I shouldn’t have invited him.

Because as soon as we stepped out of the elevator, we came face-to-face with none other than the devil himself.

Carson.

He had a towel draped around his neck and his hair was still dripping wet from the swim he took. He smelled strongly of chlorine and I couldn’t help but wrinkle my nose in disgust. This is exactly the reason why I try to avoid pool water as much as I can: the chlorine not only irritates my eyes and makes them red, but it also has a really strong smell that ends up clinging onto my skin for the next few days.

“Oh, hey Carson,” chirped Sterling, as he gave him a small wave.

Carson looked suspiciously between us as he nodded his head in acknowledgment. “Where are you guys going?”

“We’re gonna go do some sightseeing,” I stated, as I pulled on Sterling’s arm and started to drag him towards my friends.

“Without inviting me?” asked Carson, as he placed a hand over his heart and feigned hurt.

“Aren’t you supposedly swimming with Erving?”

“Not anymore.”

“Do you want to join us?” asked Sterling.

Carson opened his mouth, about to reply when I suddenly said, “No, of course not!”

“But what if I want to?” he challenged.

“Then go yourself. There’s no way in hell I’m going to invite you.”

“Ouch; that really hurts.”

“Well too bad. It’ll heal.”

“You’re mean.”

“And you are too,” I retorted. “Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re gonna—”

“Juliet!” I heard someone shout from behind me.

I spun around and saw Ivy running up to me. “How long does it take you to change?” She rolled her eyes. “Lola and I have been waiting there for like thirty minutes! We have to hurry up as it’s already seven.”

“Okay, okay,” I said. “You wouldn’t mind if Sterling came, right?” I gestured towards Sterling, who was standing awkwardly beside me.

“It’s fine if you guys don’t want me to go with you,” Sterling quickly said, as he scratched the back of his head nervously.

“No, it’ll be great!” said Ivy, as she gave him a big smile. She then looked behind me and I swear to god, her eyes practically popped out of her eye sockets when she realized who it was.

“He’s not coming,” I quickly said, as I noticed her lip twitch. She was probably about to invite him with us.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” she said, as she ignored me. “Would you like to join us, Carson?”

I would love to,” he said, as he smirked at me.

I glared at him.

“Just allow me a quick ten minutes to change and then we can go!” he cheerily stated, as he got into the elevator.
