Chapter Twenty-Three

Unrequited Feelings

“I’m gonna cry!” I whined, as Ivy sat me down on the bed. She and I were in our hotel room, getting ready for the party.

My leg felt a lot better today, which surprised me considerably. I felt I had at least pulled a muscle or something but when I had woken up this morning, besides a subtle pain near my right thigh, everything seemed to be working normally.

Yesterday, Hyde had brought my friends and me the invitation to the meet-and-greet party. It apparently starts at six in the evening and doesn’t end until ten at night. Hyde, being the stubborn asshole that he is, forced me to go—without any exceptions.

“You have to go and meet some new people; it’s a skill that you’ll to acquire if you ever want to be successful in the entertainment industry,” Hyde had told me.

Successful my ass—what if I don’t even want to be a part of the entertainment industry?

“Jules, it’s only going to take six hours of your life,” Ivy said, as she tried to appease me.

“You’re not helping here!” I hissed, as Ivy held up the dress she had wanted me to wear for the party.

I took it reluctantly from her.

“Gosh, Jules. You act as if you’re about to get executed or something.”

“Ignore her, Jules,” said Lola, as she came out of the bathroom. She looped an earring into her right earlobe and then smiled at me. “I feel the same way.”

Ivy glared at her but Lola ignored her.

“Oh my gosh, you look so pretty!” I gushed, when I saw the outfit she had on. Her outfit consisted of a sparkly gray tank top, a black leather-like jacket, and light gray denim shorts. Her light blonde hair was curled lightly to the left and was held tightly there with mousse. She had light gray eye shadow around her eyes and light pink lipstick.

She looked like a total rebel.

Lola blushed. “Erm, thanks.”

“You on the other hand,” I said, as I looked at Ivy. “Look really bad,” I teased. I smirked at her and pulled at the end of her hair with my hand.

Ivy smacked my hand away. “Shut up, Jules. At least I look better than you.”

Ivy had on a bright red dress that practically blinded me under certain lighting conditions. It was the kind of red that made you want to rip your eyeballs out. It made me uncomfortable just by looking at it, not to mention, her dress showed an awful lot of skin.

“Are you trying to stick out like a sore thumb at the party?” I asked, giggling. “Because if that was your plan, then it’s definitely working.”

“Just get in the bathroom,” Ivy snapped, as she shoved me into it. She closed the door behind me.

“What makes you think I’m going to change?” I said, smirking, even though she couldn’t really see me.
