Chapter 3

 Winter's POV

Mr.Pierces husband seems to not know how to talk to a female. He keeps trying to make an effort to start a good conversation though, and hasn't stared at my hearing aids yet, or mentioned my different colored eyes. My eyes are a very bright emerald green, to the point people ask if I have contacts, and in my right eye I have a birth mark. It's pretty cool.

"Look, I have all sons so I'm not good at the whole daddy-daughter thing. Um, but I am sorry about your mother." He said and I kept poking the fruit in the bowl as I chewed the piece in my mouth. So he was also married before...

"How long have you been together?" I said and the man smiled.

"Four years. He's great with the boys." He said and I nodded.

"Hey Dad can I have a few buddies ove- who's this?" I heard a deep voice speak. I turned and was met with brown eyes. The male had a beard, and seemed to be over the age of 18...

"This is your sister. Winter." The older male said and I stayed silent and picked at the material of my leggings. The other male nodded and looked at his dad with furrowed brows.

"Buddies or not?" He asked and it made me smile slightly that he was being respectful and asking even though he was older than 18.

"Not tonight. I'm sure Winter doesn't want to deal with drunk, sweaty men in the house." He said and I shrugged.

"Oh don't mind me. Back home I dealt with them on a nightly basis." I said and both men stared at me shocked. I looked at both confused. "I worked at a diner that served alcohol..." I whispered and both sighed in relief.

"I guess if she says it's okay." His father said. The boy smiled at me and winked then walked away.

"You have to watch what you say Love. It could be taken dirty here. Or anywhere." He said and I nodded and pushed the food about.
