Now Imagine This

Imagine a man in a car. Can you see him?
Imagine he has places to be,
He's got to go to the gym,
And get something to eat.

Imaging him walking out of his house.
Imagine him grabbing his keys,
He leans in to kiss his spouse
Just before he's about to leave.

Imagine him driving all over town. Imagine the school he's waiting at.
Waiting for his 5 year old son to come out,
So they can go home for a snack.

Now imagine the things he's done in a day.
Imagine the things he's had to do.
The way he refrained from his road rage,
All the turns, yields, and stops too.

Imagine him turning on the radio,
Imagine his jam comes on
The way he's singing out of control,
Along with the words to his favorite song.

Imagine how this man looks in the drivers seat.
Imagine the effort put into getting where he needs to be.

Now imagine this.

Imagine he missed the most important thing.
Imagine he never put in the key.

Imagine he never put the key in the ignition.
Imagine him sitting there in his car,
Thinking he was already going on his mission,
When he was actually in his driveway, parked.

Imagine him turning the wheel,
Imagine him pressing on pedals, turning the knobs,
The way he's jamming with such a zeal,
All the while, the music's not even on.

Imagine him thinking he's picked up his son,
Imagine him asking him about his day,
Working on making their relationship strong,
Thinking, assuming that he's doing great.

Imagine what his neighbors are thinking,
Imagine them staring from a distance.
Utterly confused about what they are seeing,
Wondering how he doesn't notice.

Imagine. Indulge me, if you'd like.
Imagine what I'm about to describe,
I'm describing one who never started his life.
Imagine that the way this man never started his car,
Is the way you live your life.
You talk real big, but don't get very far.

Imagine your plans of a successful future.
Imagine you wrote down every step.
You how you'll make the world better and newer,
Yet you lack the motivation to do the rest.

You never put in an effort to get to that place,
You never apply for the job that will get you there.
You assume that it'll be handed to you on a silver plate,
While you do nothing but sit on your fat derrière.

You can't go anywhere with your car without starting your engines.
This, I've clearly described and now you can imagine,
It's the same with your life.
Your car, and your time.
So, if you want to get far,
Then just start the car!
