I watched as Damion let a bit of fire out his hand before letting it go. My hands were clenched into fists because I couldn't help but feel angry about how he was out. I gritted my teeth together and glared at my lap.

"Matthew?" a soft voice asked, breaking me from my thoughts. Soft hands grabbed mine and squeezed it. "Look at me, please."

I took a deep breath and looked at her and gave her a small grin, even though it was more like a grimace. "What is it?" I asked, squeezing her hand.

"Are you alright?" she asked, softly. Her blue eyes shone with love, compassion, and worry, and I couldn't help but feel as if I wasn't good enough for her.

"Just nervous," I replied. I sighed and moved a hand through my hair, grimacing again. "I don't want to think what will happen if... your sperm donor comes around," I muttered, knowing full well that she would be able to still hear me. I squeezed her hand when she flinched, reassuring her and myself that she was here and will not be alone.

"Then we hurt him," Damion replied, looking up through the rearview mirror. Anger burned through his eyes, and the whole car started to heat up a bit. A snarl was on his face while he growled out in disgust. "That man is a monster, and we will protect you from him. Anne will watch over you and protect you from him." He snorted in disgust. "Anne has a bone to pick with him."

"What... happened?" Gabriel asked, looking back at us, maybe more at Anne. Worry filled his eyes, and I could see how much he cared about her, just as much as I had cared about Lilly. How long did he have to hide it from Him, or did He all ready know and that was why Anne was down here?

"She was... taken from New York City about 50 years ago by Lilly's father, and she was tortured for information," Damion replied. "He wanted Lilly, but Anne wouldn't give her up."

"Where was her "Dark Angel"?" Gabriel asked with bitter distaste. He folded his arms across his chest and glared at his lap.

"Trying to help find her," I replied. "Anne wasn't stupid. She didn't want someone to find her beforehand, which was why the Hunters couldn't spot her." I took a deep breath. I couldn't help but shake my head, trying to get rid of the thoughts of her beaten and bruised body when she was back. "She wasn't going to give up Lilly."

"I owe her my life," Lilly said, softly while she squeezed my hand for reassurance. "I just hope that she will not get killed when trying to protect me." She sighed. "Or anyone of us."

Again, I squeezed her hand while the car fell into silence at the thoughts of what it would mean to lose an Angel like Anne. And, I for one, can not imagine a life without her.
