* Jai’s POV *
“Hey, Andi right?” I whispered as she sat beside me. She looked shocked the first time she turned around to meet my gaze, and I got confused. It was as if she knew me beforehand or perhaps, she saw Luke first. That could be a possibility.
And I was right about the latter. “Yeah, that’s right. I’m so sorry about bumping into you earlier.”
But I just shrugged it off. “That’s alright I guess. By the way, I’m Jai. Jai Brooks”.
“Hey, it was nice to meet you, Jai.” She smiled, a really adorable one and I just couldn’t focus on History class any longer, no matter how much I enjoyed that subject. I wanted to know more about her this instant.
We didn’t listen to Mr. McCray’s History class as we were enjoying some quality time together. It felt like the way in the movies when everything around you is so slow and the spotlight is focused on you both. The teacher isn’t even calling your attention to listen in class. It’s like being lost in each other’s world.
The bell rang and as soon as class was over, the students ran out like a breeze and have left Andrea and I alone in the room. We headed out the door and the hallway was already empty. The students might have gone to their classes. We went out the door and suddenly we were at the movie theater.
We sat down in the middle of the cinema. There weren’t a lot of people inside. We kept on talking until the movie started. We laughed together until happy tears came out because the movie was too funny. It was a comedy movie, sort of like The Step Brothers as I remember. She ended up leaning in my shoulders while I was holding onto her, dreaming that the day wouldn’t end as we enjoyed each other’s company.
“I love this.” I commented and hugged her tighter, not wanting to ever let go as she leaned in closer and feel the warmth of my embrace.
The movie ended and we went outside. We were all of a sudden in the middle of the fields.
“Look what I found.” I exclaimed, and picked up a charm necklace. A lucky clover necklace was sparkling in the green grass.
“You should wear it!” Andrea suggested, taking the necklace and putting it around my neck. “Now you would be lucky!”
“I’m already lucky because you’re with me…” I teased.
“Aww you cutie…” Andrea sighed.
We went hopping around the fields until we were both tired and literally just let ourselves fall to the ground. We ended up watching the stars up in the sky, forming objects and guessing what they look like. We were so exhausted with what we did the whole afternoon. We weren’t even worried about anything else.
“We should do this more often.” I commented as Andrea agreed. Checking my phone for the time, I noticed how late it was and decided to call off the night. “We better head home.”
We walked around and realized we were at Swan Hill. “I love this place. I’m keeping a memory of this in my heart. I’m so glad we went here, Jai.” Andrea said while watching the surroundings on our way to the train station.
I smiled. It was the happiest I’ve seen her and she was so gorgeous. “We’ll come back I promise.”
“That’s great!” Andrea jumped for joy.
Soon, we arrived at the train station. There were not much people around this time. I went to buy the tickets as Andrea waited in a nearby bench.
“We missed the last train.” I pouted.
“Aww, we can wait here.” Andrea replied.
We sat on the bench together and waited the whole night. We weren’t sleepy or hungry at all. We just stayed there on the bench cuddling like there’s no tomorrow. We weren’t even embarrassed if there were people watching us. We were carefree.
“Jai, I really enjoyed spending time with you today.” Andrea said.
“Me too...” He uttered.
“I love you, Jai. I hope you’ll always be happy and you’ll always be my lucky charm.” She expressed.
“I love you too, Andrea. You’re always here in my heart. I’ll never let you go.” We were both emotional talking to each other.
“Take care of yourself, okay? Promise me you’ll take care of your family, especially Luke.” Andrea uttered, her voice gave it away that she was about to burst into tears.
Hopefully, happy ones.
“I will. I promise. Don’t worry.”
We continued talking the whole night while waiting for the train to arrive. We enjoyed every hour we spent together and didn’t realized it was already morning. The train was about to come in less than 15 minutes and we’re both getting ready.
When the train came, suddenly, a whoosh of people coming out of the train made the surroundings more difficult to move as I’ve lost a grip of Andrea’s hands. I found myself already inside the train as I looked around to see where Andrea was.
This was like a scene in the movies. When I found her, she was standing outside of the train. People were bumping her left and right, which didn’t allow her to follow me inside. She stood there frozen as my eyes focused only on her, calling her name, trying to get out of the train to be with her. But sadly, people started to crowd me up, and it didn’t help if I tried pushing them away.
An alarm sounded off which only meant that the doors were closing. As I reached for the entrance, the door closed and I was late. All of a sudden, people dispersed and continued on to their business. I saw Andrea standing there alone outside of the train, looking directly at me. She smiled, like that adorable one when I first met her at History class. That smile which made me believe that love was real and that she was that girl I fell in love with.
“Goodbye, Jai.” She mouthed as she waved her hand at me. “I love you.”
Everything was so quiet. I can hear murmurs of people from a closed room. I was stiff. I was numb. I tried moving my hands but it was so hard. I tried with my fingers and all of a sudden people were screaming that I was moving, which made me utterly confused.
I remember I was at the train station and now I’m lying in someone’s bed, unable to move.
“Jai… wake up.” I heard mum. I took a peek and everything was white. I tried moving my eyes and opening it and everyone gathered around the bed like it was my homecoming.
“Jai! I’m so glad you’re awake now!” Mum cried. I saw my friends and family members around me.
All these questions were forming in my head… Where am I? What happened? Why am I here? What are you all looking at?
But I can’t talk. I wanted to. I tried.
“Does something hurt?” Nonna asked as my eyes kept wandering around the room.
Someone please tell me why I’m here…
Everyone was cheering me up and crying beside me. Even Andrea’s family was here asking if I was fine. I heard one of them asked someone to call the doctor because I was awake.
A few minutes later, a loud screeching sound blew off and everyone in the room panicked and looked at the other side of the room.
“Noooo!! Andrea wake up!” I heard Luke cried.
Everyone did. Their reactions changed from happy to sad. I looked at my side and saw Andrea lying on bed and doctors were rushing to her side. Some of our friends were covering her so I wouldn’t see.
Andrea, wake up. You promised you won’t leave.
Could I be dreaming when I was at the train station with Andrea?
Was that a… goodbye?
