"Lucas?"

It was Annabelle. "Can you hear me, Lucas?"

"Yeah...I can...what are you doing here?" I asked Annabelle.

"I don't want you to be in this much pain anymore," Annabelle explained, "so I'm taking you away."

I gasped. "But what about Michaela?"

"You've taught her well, Lucas. She has to do this on her own, anyways."

"Annabelle, there's still something I have to tell her."

Annabelle nodded. "Let me know when you're ready, sweetie. I'll be here."

Hours later, I saw them all standing in front of me. Charlotte. James. Derek. Marissa. Lindsay. My mother.

And Annabelle.

"Guys?" I called out.

"We're so proud of you, honey," Mom said to me.

"You have no idea how much I missed you. All of you." I said.

"We were always with you, Lucas," Mom replied kindly.

I sighed happily and smiled at my mother. For almost thirty years, I haven't been able to see her. And I missed her. In fact, I missed everyone.

Then Annabelle gave me a kind smile, took my hand, and gently asked me, "Ready, Lucas?"

"Yeah. I'm ready." I replied.

I put my arms around Annabelle and smiled. When she put her arms around me, everything felt just right.

I was ready.
