Coincidences freak me out.
No seriously, they're a completely strange concept to me. I don't really believe in coincidences. For example, if something starts popping up in your life all at once in different situations, just how could that be a coincidence.
So yes, I believe in fate, not coincidences. It's just too weird when you learn a word and suddenly you start hearing it everywhere. I've been thinking about this all day actually. I roam our school halls, walking alongside Hunter and Liam. As I make my way from class to class and finally to lunch, I think of just how coincidental it is that I wrote in my diary five months ago about them, and now I'm good friends with both of them.
Well, one of them I'm especially good friends with, if you get my drift.
"Hello? Hazel? Earth to Little Rascal? Anybody in there?" Liam knocks on my head lightly, and I quickly swipe at his hand.
"Keep your pants on Liam, I'm alive, I swear." I laugh, ruffling his dark brunette hair that resembles mine. Hey, we could be twins!
"Finally, I've been trying to get your attention for what feels like decades!" Liam exclaims, pouting at me, blue eyes wide.
I coo at him, "You're so cute when you're annoyed." He huffs, pouting even more before his smug face lights up.
"You called me cute! You called me cute! I'm so telling Hunter. This is gold." By the time he's finished talking, he's laughing uncontrollably, falling back on the grass. I guess he's not going to eat that piece of cake he bought then.
I reach out, snatching the large slice of chocolate cake he had just sitting in his lunchbox and begin eating it, making sure to take my time. Smirking, I can't help but think of how angry Liam will be at me for eating his food. Sharing is caring. Plus, he's too busy laughing his ass off to notice.
Looking out at the dull, grass field, I watch all the other students as they talk with their friends, eat, and play sport. But then when my dark green eyes scan the far end of the field, I squint, trying to figure out if my eyes are witnessing what I think they are.
Trent and Veronica are hanging out. A bit more than that, actually. They're quite close to each other and Veronica has her hand on his bicep. My eyebrows raise at the surprising sight, my chest filling with curiosity. If that's not suspicious, I don't know what is. See? It can't be a coincidence that two people who hate me happen to - all of a sudden - be spending time together.
"Is that Liam's cake he bought from the bakery this morning?"
Pausing mid bite, I feel Hunter sit next to me but keep my eyes on Liam. In particular on the way he stops laughing and almost gets whiplash from sitting up so fast.
"What the hell! That's my cake!" He gasps, trying to take it from me. Putting the cake out of reach, I giggle and roll my eyes.
"I think we've established that already, Mister Obvious."
"Don't sass me." He argues, practically climbing on top of me, "Give me my cake back, you sneaky little-"
"Liam," Hunter warns from beside us with a stern expression, "Don't even."
"I was going to say 'little rascal' so stop being so over protective, gosh dude." He huffs, getting off of me in a grump. Face set into a frown. This guy huffs too much.
"Look, I can always just buy you another one, Liam. Forgive me?" I offer up my best puppy eyes and to my satisfaction, he gives in quickly. His whole face changes as he smiles, shaking his head in disbelief.
"You play dirty, Little Rascal. It's hard to stay annoyed when you go all 'cute puppy' on my ass."
I hear Hunter scoff. Looking over, I find him frowning, "Did you seriously just call my girlfriend cute?" My heart flutters when he says 'girlfriend' but I try keep my feelings in check.
On the other hand, Liam is laughing all over again, "Bro, she called me cute first!"
"When?"
"Just before you showed up. That's why I was laughing." He admits, smirking.
"Oh." Hunter frowns sadly causing my heart to ache. I crawl across the small space between us, and loop my arms around his neck. Confusion drowns the pale green of his eyes as he whispers for only me to hear, "Are you sure you like me?"
I nod, grinning ear to ear, "Of course I like you! I really really like you, Hunter." Kissing his cheek, I pull back to explain, "I do think Liam's cute," As soon as I say it, I hear a laugh from behind me but ignore the idiot and focus back on my frowning boyfriend, "But, I think of him in a brotherly way so you have nothing to worry about. Like, at all."
"So you're saying that you're not attracted to him in the slightest?" Hunter seems to be having a hard time believing me.
"No, I definitely don't find Liam attractive," I say, shivering in disgust. Hunter laughs, pulling me onto his lap to nuzzle at my neck. Well then, now I'm shivering for a completely different reason.
"Hey, I'm still here you know. And I heard that!"
"Trust me, I know." I laugh at the childish boy who's currently sighing dramatically behind me. At least he isn't acting too weird today, I think to myself on a side note.
Then again, who wouldn't be happy today? It's Friday! Which means I finally get to spend the weekend with my boyfriend.
But knowing Liam, he'll probably tag along just to annoy us.

I honestly didn't plan on updating the rest of this week because I really need to get those assignments done and I only have like four days. Buuut, I started writing and couldn't stop xD
