Majesty & Keiara in the mm.

Majesty A. Collins

"When you look in the future, time seems to go by slow. When you look in the past, you see just how fast time really passes. Look too far back and you'll miss half of the light." Sabrina, a Hispanic girl in my class, spoke while nodding slightly. "This is really good."

I smiled and thanked her.

"But what does light stand for exactly?" She furrowed her eyebrows. "Life?"

"Yeah." I nodded.

"Oooh so if you look too far back into your past, you'll miss most of your life because before you know it," she snapped her fingers, "life is over."

"Yep, you hit the hammer right on the nail." I pointed at her while nodding. "It's crazy how we, as humans, take nine full months to grow to become a human. It's crazy how long it takes to bring a life into the world, but it can be taken so easily and quickly."

Sabrina nodded and said a few words of agreement.

The most precious thing can be taken away in the blink of an eye.

The bell rang loudly, dismissing us all from class. I gathered my things before swiftly leaving my philosophy class. My next hour is a free hour so I plan on going to the library to work on my research paper that's due in a little over three weeks. Pushing the doors open, I hurried across the campus to the library building. I quickly pushed myself inside since the wind was beginning to pick up. New York wind is something serious.

My eyes immediately landed on the few basketball players that were in here. I shuffled across the room in a somewhat fast pace while keeping my head down.

I was only a few feet away from the computers, hopefully I can make it.

I sat my books down on a desk with a computer before pulling the chair out. Before I could even sit down I heard my name being called by a familiar voice. Looking over my shoulder, my eyes landed on Jared, a friend of my ex.

"Wassup Maj?" He nodded with a small smile on his face. "Haven't spoken to you in a while."

"Well you are my ex's friend, not mine." I rolled my eyes, turning my body so I could fully see him.

"We could've been friends yanno." He laughed. I rolled my eyes once again. Jared has always been annoying to me. "Aye Melo, yo girl here."

I cringed at the words 'yo girl'. We've been over for almost a year, and it's going to stay that way.

I diverted my eyes to Romelo and cringed once again when I saw the big smile on his face.
