Chapter 10: Running

Paxton's POV

"Stay with you?″

It wasn't the best move I ever did but the first time in two years I blurted out what my mind was screaming for me to say. The look on Chris's face was one of confusion and amusement but I didn't let my comment to judge or my mouth to take that back.

"Well, basically I live in a big house where only three people live. We have rooms that stay empty anyway, so why not? And you don't have much time to move out.″ I reasoned. He looked like he was going to disagree but then he smiled.

"OK, but on one condition. I'll pay you." He stated rather calmly and I thought for a second. If I let him stay with us then I have to stay at uncle's house. Alex and Max will not leave me so they'll mostly tag along. Now I just needed a green card from Uncle.

"Having second thoughts?″ I didn't respond. I just gave him a playful smile.

"You've got a stuck up housemate, nerd. Better luck on that."

And that's how we spend the next few hours studying and making a plan for his moving out.

Turned out Uncle was indeed out of New York. He had a work on his new project which is going to help children living a better life in worldwide. I talked with him and he gave a green signal on using the house anytime we want. Last night when I pulled into my garage I couldn't help but notice that both my brother and friend out partying. So as divesting it was, I had to pack whatever I'll need and send that to the house.

When morning came so does my idiots grumpy and full of a hangover. They went to both of their rooms saying they're skipping school. I accepted this with faint exasperation. They could be both immature but when I texted them that they should start packing, without any question they both packed their things and send them away. So it was settled that Chris Wallace was moving with us by the end of the week.

"Hey, are you ready for the test?″ Chris asked me when I took a seat beside him.

"You mean get ready to eat by a shark named Mrs. Gst? Totally." I deadpanned and he let out a chuckle.

"It's your first test after my tuition. Make me proud, Rivera." He let out a slow smile and I couldn't help but look at him with awe. Why did he have to be so sweet? If he would have an asshole like other players then it'd be too easy to play him. Why it have to be him?

"Are you nervous?" He asked when I didn't laugh or gave him an answer. So instead I shrugged and pointed at the clock when the first bell rang.

Surprisingly the test went well and Chris was VERY proud. I even got a kiss on the cheek from him which I still didn't believe happened. Unfortunately, he got called by the principal for his great academic response and got early leave. I don't know why I didn't get them, it was still a mystery. So when lunch rolled around I was alone with Kara and Myra.

Entering cafeteria the first accident was I bumped into Mrs. Lillian and inwardly got a detention saying I missed her art class. But when did I take art? I didn't get to question her cause she was already running towards her class.

"Hey, babe! Don't you have lunch now?″ It was Kara from our usual table. I pushed passed the people who looked weirdly at me and some guys whistled. I looked at my outfit but it was the usual shirt and jeans. So why the hell did I got catcalled that was another mystery.

"Um, guys...Did I take art class this year?″ I asked her sitting up unsurely cause Mrs. Lillian seemed like pretty sure that I was her student.

"I thought Myra took that not you. But why? Cause you can't change classes in last minutes near exams." She had a frown on her face and it matched mine. Myra just rolled her eyes and took a bite of her pizza. Are the teachers of our school getting insane?

"I just got a detention slip saying I missed Mrs. Lillian's class." I showed her the slip and she also rolled her eyes.

"So what? Dump that on someone else's bag." I smirked at that and throw the slip in the trash can.

"That is much better but I need to talk about something important." Her face was now full of serious and it did a good job at stopping my heartbeat for a second. Now, what bad news I've to bear?

"Spill it." I took a sip of my soda and eyed the pizza.

She hesitated before blurting out, "Pax...someone leaked a video of you and Cory's showdown." What!? I almost choked on my soda but a cough made it look like I was indeed a minute away from chocking. Now it makes sense why I was getting eye glare from the girls and catcalling from the guys.

"Wait a minute? A video? How the hell that happened?" I yelled out and she looked at Myra who nodded. Then Kara stood up and grabbed my hand taking me to an empty classroom.

"I know. I was shocked too. I mean I was there so I saw nobody took a single picture but the video was clearly showing you turn down Cory." She exclaimed and I took a deep breath to calm down. Why is it happening to me all the fucking time!?

"How many people saw?″ I asked her clearly worried. I can't let a clip around the world to see. I had too much secret and so much damn reason to hide them.

"I think by now 70000 people liked it. And the views are much more than that." She replied looking at me with what I think was a pity.

"Can't you turn it down?″ I asked hopelessly. She can turn it down, I knew cause the last time she was the one turned down my sandal which involved my brother's photos and our photos in the party.

"I did but already too many people have seen it. But what if she-"

"No! I won't let her see. Cause if she saw I've to..." I told her what seems like I was assuring myself. Surely she didn't see, right?

Unknown to me, I started to pace around thinking what to do now. 

Do I have to run again? 

"It's only two months left before prom. Don't give up now. And we've to find out who's playing with us." The tone of Kara's voice suggested that I shouldn't run away now. Maybe I gave that a thought but she was right. I can't run away now. I wouldn't be a coward.

"You're right. I won't. But at least one thing is sure." I said looking at her. "That Cory isn't the one doing it. Someone else is behind all the leaks."

And we couldn't disagree anymore.

Today's update on Paxton Rivera is she was seen pack her things and send it to a house. And her new victim Chris Rivera was there too which suspected the idea of moving in together. Now what position that leaves these two? For more info wait until next update.
