Jamie sat on my lap as I ran a brush through her soft hair, gathering it into a ponytail. I had managed to decorate my room, stock my clothes, return Nat's clothes, and learn how to use a cellphone. It had been a tiring few weeks, but I was managing. Jamie already seemed older, but she was still a preppy little girl. I hummed as I finished styling her hair and set the brush down on the nightstand beside my bed.

"Thank you, mommy." she said sweetly, her steel blue eyes sending chills through my body. They were so much like Bucky's eyes. I smiled at her right as a soft knock came from the door. I glanced up and Jamie twirled around, the two of us catching Steve as he entered the room.

"Hey girls." Steve smiled at the two of us.

"Hey." I replied in a quiet tone.

"There's something I think you would like to see. Are you up for a drive?" he asked me.

I shrugged. "Sure. I have nothing else planned." I stated calmly.

Steve smirked and nodded. "I will go start the car. See you in a few minutes." he said.

I nodded and pulled myself to my feet. Jamie took my hand and I smiled down at her. "Go grab a jacket kiddo." I smiled. She nodded and let my hand go, running off to her bedroom. I went to the hook on the back of my door and grabbed the leather jacket Nat had picked out for me and tugged it around my shoulders. I flicked off the lights and stepped out into the hall where Jamie was waiting for me. "Uncle Steve is waiting outside. Lets go." I said, taking her small hand in mine and exiting the apartment, closing the door behind us.

Just as we stepped into the hall, we nearly bumped into our blonde neighbor. "Oh! Goodness, I am so sorry." the woman apologized.

"Oh, don't worry. We are okay." I smiled sincerely at her. She pressed her lips into a small smile and tipped her head to us, turning into her own apartment. I should really try to learn her name. Jamie and I walked all the way down to the car where Steve was waiting and climbed into our seats, closing the doors and buckling in.

"Where are we going, Uncle Steve?" Jamie piped up from the back as the car began to roll forward.

"Its a surprise, munchkin." Steve smirked, keeping his eyes on the road. I chewed at my lip and watched the world pass by my window.

It wasnt long before Steve was parking in front of a grand looking building with the word Smithsonian on the front of the marble entrance. "What is this?" I looked over to Steve.

"A museum." Steve smirked.

"A museum?" I arched a brow. Steve nodded and climbed out of the car. I turned in my seat to look at Jamie, and all she did was shrug. I scoffed and the two of us got out of the car as well, following Steve up to the doors and entering the crowded structure.

"Follow me." Steve mumbled, weaving through the hordes of bodies. Jamie clung to my hand and we followed Steve, making sure to keep up with him so we didnt become lost. We followed him all the way down to a specific exhibit. There it was. A large wall painted with the faces of the Howling Commandos, with Steve in the center and Bucky and I on either side. And sitting on mannequins in front were our uniforms all put together. I gasped in amazement as we approached, Steve glancing back at me with a smirk. My heart fluttered in my chest and Steve picked Jamie up so that I could have a moment to myself as my eyes began to swell with tears. I pushed through crowds of people to get closer to the hallway long exhibit. Beside the uniforms and paintings were descriptions of each Howling Commando. It said what they did, and gave a brief look at each personality. I stopped when I reached mine, scanning over the words.

Margaret "Maggie" Elizabeth Dornwall
1918-1944

Maggie was a simple girl who grew up in an abusive household. In her teen years, she came to meet Steve Rogers, and was taken in by him and his mother as a sister and a daughter. Dornwall became enlisted shortly after her brother, Steve Rogers, and gave her service to our country as the first female combatant. She aidee her brother in leading the Howling Commandos unit, which included her fiancé, and helped the team fight the enemy. She aided the U.S. in the victory of the war.

I chewed at my lip, reliving those final moments. Steve, Im pre-. That was all I had managed to say before we crashed. I winced, remembering the cold feeling and the darkness that consumed me. I moved down the line, finding the story I was really looking for.

James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes
1917-1944

Born in 1917, Barnes grew up the oldest of three. An excellent athlete who also excelled in the classroom, Barnes enlisted in the Army shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. After winter training at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, Barnes and the rest of the 107th shipped out to the Italian front. Captured by Hydra troops later that fall, Barnes endured long periods of isolation, deprivation, and torture. But his will was strong. In an ironic twist of fate, his prison camp was liberated by none other than hos childhood friend, Steve Rogers (Now Captain America), and the love of his life, Maggie Dornwall (Known as Miss Magnum). Reunited, Barnes, Rogers, and Dornwall led Captain America's newly formed unit, the Howling Commandos. Barnes' marksmanship was valuable as Rogers and his team destroyed Hydra bases and disrupted Nazi troop movements throughout the European Theatre.

I sucked in a soft breath, a small tear trickling down my cheek. On a small screen behind me that hung from the wall, a familiar voice caught my attention. In black and white film, Peggy's face filled the screen and I smiled as I listened to her sweet voice and accent.

"Barnes and Dornwall... They were inseperable. They were definitely soul mates. The two of them were a perfect match, and they loved each other dearly. When Bucky died, Maggie took it really hard. But it doesnt matter if you're 13, 39, or 80. When you lose a soul mate, it will hurt for the rest of your life. She was hurting, for sure... I respected them for their loyalty and compassion to each other. They would do anything to protect each other. It was an honor knowing them."

I smiled and choked down the lump in my throat, my vision blurring from the hot salty tears forming in my eyes. I felt a few of them slip down my cheek, and I tugged my coat tighter around my body. Looking around, there were pictures in black and white of the Howling Commandos, and of Captain America, and Bucky and I.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned around, sniffling as I did so. Steve was looking down at me with a softness in his eyes and Jamie smiled at me.

"Thank you Steve." I whimpered, forcing myself to smile. Jamie leaned over to me, and I took her in my arms. "Your daddy was a great man, Jamie." I whispered, hugging Jamie tightly. She hugged me just as tight, clinging to my shoulders.

"I know, mommy. I wish I could meet him." she whispered into my hair.

"I wish you could meet him too, darling... I wish you could meet him too."
