Camp McCoy. Thats where we were going. The place where Bucky had been trained in bootcamp. Nat had hotwired a car and we drove all hours of the night and all the following day to reach our destination. If we had a quinjet we would have been there in no time. But we couldnt really go to SHIELD in search for help from them. We were on our own.

Jamie slept in the back of the car with her head on my lap. Her soft features looked so gentle and peaceful while she slept, rather than the hidden mask of fear she had been holding for nearly two days. I stroked my fingers gently through her silky blonde hair and hummed quietly, watching her sleep. Nat was driving and Steve had the passenger seat. I didnt want my daughter involved in this, but where would I be able to take her? I couldn't trust anybody except for Steve. Nat, whom I thought of as a friend, was barely trustworthy at the moment. For all I knew, she could be undercover Hydra.

For the most part, the drive was silent and the sun had begun to set, casting pink and orange streaks across the sky. My favorite color. I was halfway tempted to wake Jamie up so she could see it, but I figured she needed the rest more. She was a tough little girl, and she was still only six months old. Most children would be an infant at that age, but not Jamie. She was not like most children. She had the mentality and growth of a six year old. But I loved her no less because of it.

"How is she doing?" Nat asked softly from the driver seat, looking back at me through the rear-view mirror. She sounded truly concerned. I sighed and looked down at Jamie, still petting her hair.

"She's going to be okay, I think. She's a tough kid." I smiled warmly. Though I didn't exactly trust Nat at the moment, I never doubted her love for Jamie, or Jamie's love for her. I believed Natasha legitimately cared for the innocent girl, but she wouldnt outright admit it.

"Damn right she is." Nat smiled, as if she was proud of my daughter. I giggled quietly, so as to not wake the sleeping girl.

"We're almost there." Steve mumbled, staring out the windshield. I sighed and nodded, a pit growing in my stomach for the fact that I would have to wake Jamie up in just a few short moments. The car rolled up to the abandoned camp, and pulled to a stop. I gave Jamie's shoulder a small shake and her eyes slowly flickered open.

"Come on, kiddo." I whispered, giving her one more shake. Jamie sat up with a large yawn and rubbed her eyes. "We are here." I told her. She blinked the sleep away and the four of us got out of the car, stepping into the base as we looked around for anything to give us clues. I held tightly onto Jamie's hand as we walked through the maze of dirt roads under the cover of night. Large structures and buildings lined the roads and we all kept a sharp eye out for anything out of the ordinary. Steve halted in his tracks, a strange glare at a nearby building. "What is it?" I asked.

"Military code prevents armories from being within 50 meters of the barracks. This building isnt supposed to be here." he furrowed his brow. I turned and looked at it. He was right. That was something that Nat and I probably wouldnt have caught. The four of us paced over to the large steel doors, looking for a way in. "I have an idea." Steve stated, and jogged back toward the car to retrieve probably his shield.

"I can do it." Jamie said hardly loud enough to hear. Suddenly, a large mound of ants crawled up from the ground, forming together at the botton of the doors and wedging themselves in, forcing the door wide open by the time that Steve had returned. I smiled and gave Jamie's hand a small squeeze as pride washed over me for my daughter. The ants dispersed and Steve stood with his mouth agape. Jamie looked up at her uncle and smiled sweetly. "All done, uncle Steve." she giggled.

Steve and Nat couldn't help but smile as they lead the way inside the building. I giggled and made my way inside, following Steve and Nat cautiously. As we entered the dark hallway, a row of black and white photos lined the wall to the left of us. The very first picture was that of Peggy, the words Founder of SHIELD beneath her photo. I smirked, knowing full well that Peggy's intent with creating SHIELD was for the good of the world, not how it was turning out now. Beside that was a picture of Howard, and a small grin began to take its place on my lips as my own picture came into view, then Steve. Next came a picture of Bucky. I paused for a moment, staring over at the picture while Nat and Steve continued on.
