I brushed through my hair and used a small amount of dry shampoo in it as well. Using makeup wipes to clean off my face, I then reapplied a small amount of mascara. I changed into a pair of skinny jeans to go with my blue knitted sweater and black knee-high boots. I sighed, glancing at myself through the mirror. You would think I looked happy, but really I just looked exhausted. I shook my head and exited my bedroom, finding Jamie in the living room by herself. "Where is Bucky?" I asked.

"Right here." Bucky's gruff voice came from someplace behind me as he entered the room. I turned and smiled.

"Ready?" I asked, feeling my stomach begin to ache for food. Bucky nodded and glanced between Jamie and I. I nodded once and went to the door. "Alright, lets go. Get in the car." I ordered, trying to sound happy. Jamie stood up and walked behind me as we made our way outside. Bucky tugged on one of Steve's dark baseball hats that was hanging on the hook behind the door and followed us, trying to look like a casual citizen. I had driven Steve's car home the night before, since that was our only vehicle. He could get a ride from Natasha, Im sure. I took the driver seat, Bucky rode shotgun, and Jamie sat right behind me as I drove to the diner. The short drive was silent. Bucky stared out the window, taking in all of the sights as we went. It was so different from when we grew up here.

Once inside the building, we found a nice booth in the corner to sit at. I sat across from Bucky with Jamie at my side. She sat beside the window, staring out at the street. Bucky kept his head low and I stayed awkwardly quiet. "Thanksgiving is coming up soon, then its Christmas. We should plan something." I broke the silence, the quiet had become unbearable. Bucky lifted his head to look at me and Jamie shrugged beside me. But I was lost in flashbacks from long ago. To the first holidays we shared together. It was he and I. Steve and Sara... To that Christmas day when I felt like I would be nothing without him.

"Are you really going into the Army?" I frowned, all of my negative thoughts burning into my mind like a bad dream.

His brow furrowed and slowly a small smirk formed on his lips as he began to speak. "Of course I am. Why?" he asked.

I sighed and shrugged. "Im going to miss you... And I'm scared you might not come back." I mumbled sadly. Bucky scoffed with a small smile and pulled me closer, putting his arms around me in an embrace. He kissed the top of my head and I buried my face in his chest, inhaling his mint and vanilla smell. I closed my eyes and breathed slowly.

"I will always come back to you. Dont you worry about that, my baby, my darling."

I blinked a few more times, escaping my trance to find myself staring into Bucky's eyes. "Or... We could just stay home." I backpedaled.

"N-no... Um. That sounds nice." Bucky shook his head, looking down at the table. I bit at my lip and glanced around the diner, seeing if the waiter was anywhere nearby. Right as I looked up, the rotund elderly woman approached with an exaggerated smile. But she wasnt the one that caught my attention. A young girl, maybe about eight years old with pitch black hair sat with her mother on the other side of the diner. She was staring straight at us. Her mother was preoccupied with rounding up the other two younger children with them.

"What can I get you folks today?" The waitress pulled my attention.

I blinked a few times and smiled up at her. "Uh, whatever is the special today. Three of them." I nodded, ordering for all of us.

"Any coffee?" the waitress wrote down everything.

"Yes please. Three of them. That will be it." I nodded.
