So its established Mike has a strong hatred for very conservative closed minded thinkers. He can't stand them. But he doesn't have it quite as bad when the person is a kid.
If Mike sees or is in contact with a young kid who believes closed minded conservative things, Mike ignores it and is good at not allowing it to bother him. Why? Because Mike was that kid, Mike was closed minded and conservative and its all because of his mother. Having been there done that, Mike knows their opinions are largely just that of their parents and the kid might grow up and change.
