The Barbaric Bullish Axeman exploded into fragments of lights. A black monster core with a tinge of yellow dropped into the ground. However, no one picked it up.
Despite the raging waves of monsters, there was silence among the players as they stared dumbfoundedly at the scene.
"I-it's dead!" it was unknown which player said this but soon, bursts of cheers arose from the crowd.
Kian who just fired off almost all of his mana in that sure-kill Bullet I fell on his knees. The Stamina potion wasn't able to completely restored his energy.
Bea and Xian quickly helped him so that he would not fall into the ground. They discovered that he already fell unconscious.
"He's tired. Let's bring him back to the dorms." Bea said after confirming that the number of monsters were not enough to block their way.
The other players also did the same so they could also take a rest.
With a bit of difficulty, she managed to carry Kian as they jumped along the monsters' backs.
'Do men really have such heavy bodies?' she couldn't help but ask to herself while carrying Kian.
The young man was definitely not tall nor very muscular. However, the continous physical activities inside the game toned his original skinny body.
She couldn't help but feel awkward as she was carrying him.
Xian and Roxy, her bat type battle pet couldn't help grin and tease when they saw her expression. At the side, Shawn very much wanted to tear off Kian from her hands but Bea absolutely wouldn't let him touch him.
Since Kian was the one who took down the boss, no one argued about the ownership of the monster core but since it somehow became a raid boss, the rune stones all went to the other players involved in the battle.
As they retreated inside the academy together with the other stranded players, they noticed that the battles were also about to end.
The Gloomy Sorcerer, a boss monster past level one hundred had an ugly expression as it realized it couldn't take down the various professors that teamed up against it and started to retreat.
Shawn approached Professor Perch who was giving support from behind through his high-leveled enchantments.
"Professor, is the fight over?" he asked.
"Not yet. The other monsters are not a problem but the instigator of this overflow still hasn't showed up. No, this is already not an overflow but a rebellion" Professor Perch said with a grim face.
On the side, Shawn and a few players who heard this were shocked.
"Rebellion? From what do they rebel?" Shawn asked.
"The Main System. The back-up system is not enough to manage them. They are also living forms and have their own thoughts. They probably thought that since the system was gone, they can already do what they want" the professor explained and sighed before he walked away.
The day was finished and night came. The overflow of monsters was stopped but the atmosphere was still tense since there was still a terrifying enemy that lurked within the darkness outside.
The students went back to their dorms spent from all the fighting. A lot of them had leveled up and some even increased in ranks. If this was still the normal game, they would've rejoiced already. However, they only felt a bit reassures for their lives right now.
