33: Tides of Battle
Date Created: Mar. 2,2017

----------

Tolls of bell shrouded  the field battlefield in a comfortable yet cold feeling. All the players who were wailing and wallowing in despair just moments ago couldn't help but pay attention.

What was happening?

The cosmages above also noticed the change in the battlefield and stopped their attacks.

The air suddenly swirled mysteriously. Purple motes of light appeared. They were countless like the stars in the sky. Each one were pike fireflies that flew around the battlefield and entered the bodies of every single player and NPC.

Whenever a mote of purple light entered a player, they would emit a purple glow. This was even more prominent towards the Dark Magi.

The players were finally able to identifying the source of there lights.

At the top of the Academy's main gateway, an entity with a barely discernible body stood. It looked like a ghost but had a body made of purple light. On its hands was a large black bell. Every time it rang, a large wave of purple light would be released carrying along the lights from before.

Name: Shade Avatar
Element:Dark, Psychic
Effects: Shade Buff, HP Regeneration, MP Regeneration

Description:

The avatar of the famed Shade Lord. It only knows one skill, the Shade Formation.

---------

It was actually the Shade formation. Who knew that it was activated through a living thing.

Just like what the contents of the message said, it really had health and mana regenerating effects. Just a few minutes of activation already recovered a lot of his lost HP and MP.

Suddenly, he felt his body become lighter and the purple glow disappear. To his surprise, he found that his body was now mostly transparent and dark. It was the same for all the other players and NPCs.

"It's the Shade Formation! Raise your weapons and fire all that you have!" a sword immortal from the Abyss Battlefield appeared and raised his blade.

His words gathered the courage of most of the players. They all stood up despite their injuries and the emotions stuck on their chest. Waves of skills were released and shot to Count Dugu who was clearly surprised at the sudden turn of events.

The main boss tried to launch multiple attacks but it was clear that they had no effects. As long as the Shade Formation stays, he wouldn't be able to harm them wether with physical or magical attacks.

It was a shame that it could only be activated for an hour. With the addition of the players from the Abyss Battlefield, its duration was reduced to half an hour. Otherwise, they could've activated it from the start and quickly finished the boss without any casualties.

A lot of players didn't let this chance pass. They quickly slaughtered the monsters below with glee to quickly leveled up. Kian also did the same as them and his level rose steadily like it was a joke.

Level fifty one...fifty two...fifty, three....

He also occasionally launched some attacks to the main boss whose life was nearing its end.

The battle was intense. Although they couldn't be harmed anymore, their attacks weren't part of the Shade Formation. The Mansion Owner Vampire was still able to block most of them.

The players were now quite desperate. They were racing for time. However, luck wasn't on their side.

Half an hour later, the Shade Formation's effects wore off and the Shade Avatar atop the gates disappeared into thin air.

The Cosmages, sword immortals and other players who had reached the same rank were thrown away by a strong force that came from Count Dugu.

Their health were obviously shaved off by a huge amount that their health bars almost hit the red zone. The players couldn't help but despair once more.

"Did you think that one formation can kill me? Now taste my ultimate move!" Count Dugu laughed like a madman. Just know,  he really felt that he was about to die. It seems he really had to use his final move.

He held his right hand out. A red orb suddenly materialized. It was covered in red mist that looked like blood.

"The monster core!" the players energies quickly able to recognize the attack. Why did the boss took it out?

The red orb which was the Mansion Owner Vampire's monster core with blood red light.

Suddenly, an irresistible force appeared from each players' body. Blood mist came out and slowly entered the red orb.

They noticed that their health were quickly going down while Count Dugu  was recovering.

Some cosmages did their best interruption his skill but their attacks were quickly warded off by a red barrier that surrounded him.

They couldn't help but panic. Were they really going to die just like this?

On the ground, Kian quickly fed Xian a bottle of heath recovery potion. After all, the cat's health points were still below his by a huge amount. However, he knew that he couldn't keep this up forever. Sooner or later, they would run out of potions and death would take away their lives.

Suddenly, a crazy idea popped up into his mind. He glared at the red monster on Count Dugu's hand and slowly raised his pistol.

A Phantom Bullet formed at the muzzle of the gun. However, he didn't fire it right away. Instead, he drained away almost all of his mana just to make sure that it had enough strength.

He didn't know how no one thought of applying the shade attribute to their attacks. Maybe it's because they weren't just effective as his since he had a fifty percent afffinity. However, he was going to give his idea a shot. If this attack was reallt able to stop Count Dugu's skill then it would immediately pull down the curtains of the invasion.

A small sized Phantom Bullet spinend madly. It carried a dark sheen that seemed to absorb the little light that was present in the place. If one didn't look closely, they wouldn't be able to notice it.

"This is the most that I could do" he gritted his teeth. The huge consumption of mana made him dizzy.

He aimed the pistol carefully and with a scream, he fired with all his strength.

The bullet flew at the speed that the eyes couldn't follow. It carried with it no pressure at all as if it was only a shadow that passed through the place.

The others players and Count Dugu were only able to notice this attack when it was already only a few meters way.

However, the main boss obviously didn't bother to take the attack seriously. He been waved his monster core at the incoming bullet, confident enough that it would reach him.

"What a weak attack!" he couldn't help but release a loud shrill laugh.

However, his expression immediately took a huge change. The shadow bullet passed through the barrier and entered the monster core. It then changed into a metallic bullet.

"Crack" the sound that was only h 6es and throughout the battlefield.

The cracking sounds continued. The monster core was now surrounded with cracks.

"No!" Count Dugu screamed in despair. He tried to keep it back into his body. However, it was already too late.

The monster core exploded into tiny pieces and dissapeared into tiny pieces of light. The main boss that caused countless soon followed after but not without leaving a scream of unwillingness and strings of curses.

There was silence throughout the whole battlefield before it was replaced by defeaning waves of cheers.
