They got home to see Carrie's mom running across the house, setting up decorations. "Miss Reynolds, do you need help?" Harrison asked as she stood on her tip toes, trying to hang the last few streamers.

"Oh yes," said Debbie, moving aside and handing him the steamers.

Meanwhile, Carrie ran upstairs, changing out of her work clothes. Today was her first day working with Harrison and his mom. They'd somehow survived the day. With all the customers, it set a record for one of the busiest days since the shop had opened. Carrie took orders, while Harrison and his mom made the smoothies.

Running back downstairs, she wrote a check out to her parents for her part in Todd's birthday present. Today was Todd's 16th birthday and the family decided to pitch in to get him a car.

"Can you put this last one over here?"

"Sure," Harrison answered, making his way across the kitchen.

"How much time do I have?" Carrie asked her mother.

"The trucks paid for already. Your dad's going to bring Todd home in an hour then we're going to take him to his drivers test."

She nodded. Gesturing to Harrison, she said, "let's go."

"Where are we going?" He stammered, following her out of the house.

"To get my brothers birthday present."

"Alrighty."

Once in the car, he asked her, "what'd you get him?"

"Well, this whole thing was my idea. Todd's been bugging me for the last 6 months to drive my car once he got his license, so I told my parents we should get him his own car. You know, big sister gets a car, he's going to want one as well. I just hope he's up for the financial responsibility."

Turning a corner, she added, "I found a really good deal on a Chevy Silverado. It's like your truck but white. I know how much he loves your truck."

Harrison laughed. "He does love that thing."

They pulled into the car dealership. "Well here we are," she said, parking next to the truck.

"That's nice."

"I know." Carrie got out of the car. "Here," she tossed him her keys. "You know more about cars than I do. Can you check it one last time? Make sure nothing's wrong with it."

"Of course."

"I'll be back," she said before heading inside.

Harrison crawled all under the truck, looking for rust, and anything that could've been broken or out of alignment. But nothing was. Carrie had found a good deal on this.

She came back out of the shop, holding the trucks keys and title. "Well how's it look?"

"Really good. There's hardly any rust."

"Well, I'll see you back at my house," she said, unlocking the truck.

"You're letting me drive Big Red?"

Carrie giggled. After she first taught him to drive her mustang, he'd started calling it Big Red. "Yeah."

"You're kidding."
