"And last night we finally met after all that. That's where I was. I fell asleep and he didn't wanna wake me," I concluded my long story about how Justin and I came to know each other.
"Wow. That's a lot in 2 months," Sam gushed.
"It's not exactly 2 months. It's more like 1 month," I brought my mug of tea up to my lips. My lips felt tender as the hot liquid passed over them. It made me think about the kiss.
"Don't get technical. So let me get this straight: you and Justin spent the night together and nothing happened?" Sam raised her eyebrow, hinting towards a physical connection Justin and I may or may not have had.
"Sam! It was the first time meeting him. What do you think I am?" I shook my head and gulped down another mouthful of tea, hoping she didn't find out about this morning. Yes, I've told her what's happened but that doesn't mean I have to tell her everything that happened.
"Yes but you and him were getting to know each other before yesterday. So..." Sam stared at me, prompting a confession of some sorts.
"Sam, don't give me that look," I crossed my legs on my bed as she lay on her side with her head rested on her hand, "nothing happened. I mean, yeah we've been talking but that doesn't mean anything."
"You sound like you're trying to convince yourself. Char, Justin Bieber doesn't just talk to anyone for months almost every waking moment of everyday and have it mean nothing. What aren't you telling me?" She squinted at me as if she could pick out what I wasn't revealing just from scanning my face long enough.
"Why would it mean something though? It's not like anything between me and him could ever happen. He dates models and I... don't date anyone. And no one dates me," I fiddled with the tassels on the edge of the throw pillow on the bed.
"Char... come on. You're more amazing than you give yourself credit for. And from what I read in your text conversations, he's flirting hard. It's so obvious," she giggled.
"He's just like that. He has a flirty personality," I shrugged, trying to remind myself that it's pointless to get my hopes up.
"Don't gimme that. He told you to call him 'boyfriend' and he calls you 'girlfriend'," she gave me a stern look, like she'd just made her point and won the debate.
"It's just an inside joke thing. Nothing serious," I smiled nonchalantly at her.
"Char, don't do this denial thing. It's dumb. What about the fact that you told him?" Sam cocked her eyebrow at me.
I looked at her suddenly and gulped down. I knew what she was referring to. She was talking about the bullying; every detail of the bullying. You see, some of our Bad Bitches squad don't even know about that so I guess Sam's argument is that if I can tell Justin something that personal after only two months, then it must mean something.
"Th-That just means I trust him," I scratched my neck nervously.
"Charlotte, it's no secret that you're attracted to him and that you like him. Any fan of his would. But you're choosing not to believe that there is a possibility that he feels... something for you," Sam spoke seriously, her voice gentle but sure, "why else would he wanna meet you so badly?"
