A week had gone by since Greg and Rider's last talk. Today's call was bad. They were dealing with a school shooter. Rider and Wordy went in  the school and the next thing anyone knew part of the building blew up. "Wordy!? Rider?!" Different members of the team yelled into the headsets. "Subject down. I'm okay, but I can't find Lola." Wordy was scared. They could hear the fear in his voice. He never called Rider Lola unless he was scared. "Wordy I'm sending Eddie in. Wait where you are. We'll find her." Greg calmly told Wordy. Inside he was just as scared as Wordy was. He knew that Rider took more risk because she knew how Greg felt. "We got her boss but she's in sore shape." Ed spoke on the headset. "Alright Eddie get out of there!" "We have the subject too." Was Greg going to be able to keep himself in check? He waited over by the ambulance. He saw Ed carrying Rider over to where he stood. "Go with her boss. She might not make it." Ed told his friend. "Eddie, I'm scared." For the first time Sargent Greg Parker admitted he was scared. He hopped in the ambulance and it took off. "What happened Sargent?" The paramedic asked.  "Bomb." They took Rider into surgery and Greg was alone in the waiting room. He cried a couple tears. If Rider died, he'd never forgive himself. "Boss, how is she?" Wordy asked, sitting next to Greg. "In surgery still. Wordy I'm the reason your sister is in here.
If I'd never told her that I like her she wouldn't have taken these stupid risks." "No Greg, no. Rider was going to stop taking stupid risks. She wants to be a negotiator like you. She looks up to you a lot." The doctor walked over to them. "Well Sargent, she'll live. It'll be a few days before she can leave. I'll take you to her." "Yeah." Greg and Wordy follow the doctor back the room. "Hey sis. How you feeling?" Wordy asked. "She probably can't hear you. Wordy, why don't you go home to the girls? I'll stay here tonight. I promise to call you if anything changes." "Alright." Greg and Wordy have a little bro hug and Wordy leaves. Greg pulls a chair up next to Rider's bed. He put her smaller hand in his. "You got to come back to us. You're family and we need you. Wordy will probably be here tomorrow. I know you probably don't want to hear this but, I love you. I don't care about the rules and I don't care what your brother thinks. I love you." "You know boss, you have a way with words. You should be a negotiator." Rider smirked. "You heard me?" "Yeah, I also heard you tell Wordy to go home you'll stay here. Why?" "I shouldn't have let you go in the school. I should've-" "Shut up. Greg, it was my decision to go in the school not yours. Shut your lips and let's watch the game." For the first time since Rider joined the team they weren't fighting. Actually, they were enjoying each others company
