My breath catches in my throat when all eyes fall on me. This is it. They caught me and now they're probably going to hang me from a f*cking tree and sacrifice me to their dark lord. Oh yeah, they don't worship the devil. They worship my f*cking dead father.
"What're you doing here, Brookline? Shouldn't you be out and about doing normal college things?", the professor smiles a wicked smile and everyone in the room lets out a light chuckle. All except for Malachi. His eyes meet mine and he bows his head, avoiding my eye contact. "How did you find us?".
I look from Malachi to her and raise my head all the way, hoping it'll show a sign of fearlessness. But in all honesty, I was everything but fearless at this very moment. In fact, I was scared shitless. To show it would be a death sentence, so I decided to fake it 'til I make it.
"I had nothing to do with my dad. I was a very small child when he did all of those experiments on me. He tortured me, brought me so close to death since I was only a couple of weeks old. You don't know what you're doing. All of your are completely insane", I say, my voice coming out surprisingly deep without an ounce of fear. Maybe I was fearless.
"This isn't about you, Brook", The damn professor says. She really does not like to be silent. My eyes narrow and I shake my head. "It isn't. Your father was a genius. We all worship him and feel like because he went to college here, he's here with us. Now we need to give back to him. Finish his experiments".
I raise my eyebrows at her. "He- he went to school here?", I ask, then shake my head, suddenly not even wanting the answer. "He's dead and all of you are insane. I'm going to report you to the police and tell them everything". I turn and start running up the stairs. I get 3 steps away from the door and I'm pulled back hard, my ass aggresively hitting the step and I wince.
"Ohhh Brookie", I hear a giggle. "You aren't going anywhere. Knock him out and tie him up".
The last thing I feel is someone banging something hard and metal against my skull. The last thing I see is about 7 college students with ropes making their way towards me.
