Lottie passed away
On that Thursday night.
She had left me
After she had told me
That she would never leave.
I didn't know
If I would ever be able
To love someone
As much as I loved her.
My stupid, amazing
Lovely, reckless
Beautiful Lottie.
I sat in the waiting room
For hours
And when they finally told me
That she was gone
That she had left
I crumpled to the floor
And buried my face in my hands
And cried
And I didn't care
Who was watching.
They had told me
That Michael was stable
And he was breathing
And moving
And alive.
Unfair, unfair, unfair.
I would spend a lifetime
Remembering her hair
Her eyes
Her smile
Her laugh
Her
And I'd have to deal with
Never seeing any of
Those lovely things
Ever again.
