We returned back

To the apartment

Around 1:30

And we were both giggling

Like we were high

But high on love.

She mumbled against my chest

Leaning against me

Like I was a pillow.

We stumbled back

Into the apartment

And I shut the door behind us.

Made my heart flutter

For her to say them.

I teased

Placing a kiss on her forehead.

"Will I get hurt?"

She asked

Immediately shifting the mood

Into one of seriousness

And sadness.

I could hear the hesitancy

Dripping in her voice

Almost warning me

That if I made one wrong move

She would shatter.

"No you won't

Because now you'll have me

To fight off your demons

And I promise

I won't become one."
