She pointed to the tree line

And I squinted my eyes

To see what she was talking about.

"What is it?"

She grinned.

"If you look close enough

You can see whatever you want to.

You can see dinosaurs

You can see skyscrapers

You can see whatever you wish for.

You just have to find it."

And as I closed my eyes

And reopened them

I suddenly saw much more

Than just a line of trees

I saw my hopes

And my desires

Laid out in front of me.

I saw the sky lighten up

As if someone splashed paint

Across a wide canvas

And everything was etched out

Like a collage of wishes.

I saw the girl I killed

And the boy who loved her so dearly

Together once more.

I saw my father hug me.

I saw my mother laughing.

I saw phenomenal report cards

And scholarships

And a large house

And a fancy wedding

But most importantly

I saw myself.

I saw myself older

Wiser

Free of errors and foolishness

Because I wanted to be smart

I wanted to be respectful

But the image only displayed me there

With a certain black haired girl at my side.
