"You didn't have to do that"
She whispered
Placing her phone
Back into her pocket.
"I wanted to"
I answered
Taking her hand
And standing up.
"Now come on
I have to show you something."
We exited the apartment
And I led her down
The dark streets
Until we reached
A fork in the road
"Where are we going?"
I smiled through the dark.
"On an adventure."
I led her down the road to the left
Past houses
And street lights
Until we reached our destination.
"The playground?"
She questioned
Giggling as she climbed
The small toddler made stairs.
"Playgrounds can make
Anyone happy
No matter how sad
Your life may seem."
She laughed at my wise words
"Race you down the slides!"
I took long strides up
Almost tripping over a stair
As I slid down the slide quickly.
"I beat you"
She taunted
Smirking provokingly.
"I'll race you to that tree!"
I pointed to a large oak
At the other edge of the park
And began to sprint
Not waiting to hear her reply.
I began to hear the pounding
Of heavy footsteps behind me
As her shadow met mine
And slowly passed it.
She tapped the tree lightly
Smiling back at me
As I hunched over breathlessly.
"You're not fast
Enough for me"
She teased
With a large smile on her face.
I stood up straight.
"I may not be faster
But I'm a way better kisser.
All the ladies
Want a peace of the Hemmo."
"Oh yeah?"
She asked quietly
Inching closer
Until our bodies were touching.
"Yeah--"
I was interrupted by
Her warm lips on mine
And her hands tangled in my hair
And her heavy breathing
Loud enough for my thoughts
To be drowned out.
"Just kiss me"
She whispered.
"Okay."
