Sally was falling apart in front of me. I held her tightly and tried to soothe her but nothing could stop the fear pouring out of her. She was petrified. The others stood around us, all regarding her sadly - all except Luc. He was walking towards the front door with an irritating smirk on his face.
I couldn't let him go.
I needed to destroy that paper.
I squeezed Sally tight and said, "Don't worry. I will take care of this."
I stood up and readied myself to tackle that stupid jerk to the ground but Sally's arm shot out, grabbing my arm. "Don't," she whispered. "I have made my choice."
"But it wasn't a choice. He bullied you into signing that contract!"
She lowered her head and replied, "Please, Sophie. Drop it."
"No, I can't let you throw your life away for me. It isn't right!"
Her fingers tightened on my arm and she looked up at me with dead eyes and repeated, "Drop it, Sophie."
