Chapter 5

'He wants... Me?!'

Sasuke stares at you.
Suddenly, he starts laughing. So hard that he had to hold his stomach.

"God, your reaction is superb. I'll give it a five star."

He says as he wipes his tears that start to form for laughing so hard.

You are dumbfounded.

Wait, what...?

"So you were fooling around?!" you shouted angrily after you realize what is happening.

"Well... That was a payback for last time." he answers, still catching his breath after laughing.

"For what?!"

Sasuke turns serious again.

"I know you were eavesdropping last time. Don't you dare to deny it now."

You stun.

"Well, we are even now. Don't worry."

He says, back to his usual self.
You get up from your seat.

"I'm leaving."

You  take  your step to leave.

But he grabs your arm.

"What else do you want?! You said we are even now, right?! So don't disturb me anymore!"

You shouted angrily. Sasuke lifts up his head to look at you.

"Do you think i came this far just to give you your payback? Sorry, but i am not that fool to waste my time like that."

You think for a while. What he said is true. There is no way he came all the way here just to mess with you.

"Then what else do you want?" You questioned him, still mad at what happened.

Sasuke stands up. He turns to face you.

"I want you to join the mathematics competition."

The park goes silent for a while.

"What?" Your question breaks the silence.

Sasuke sighs.

"Someone here has a hearing problem, doesn't she?"

"What?!" Your blood boils again.

"I told you, I want you to join the competition. We need to win this to bring back our school's good name. And to win, we need you."

He speaks softly, sincerity is heard from his words. The madness that you feel just now slowly soothes away.

"I... I'm sorry..."

Your voice trails off in the middle of the night.

"I... can't."

You look at sasuke again, sadness in his eyes.

"I have my own problems. I hope you understand. It's late already. You better go home. Goodnight."

You bow to him and slowly walk away.

"Then..."

Your steps ceased when you hear his voice, trying to say something. You turn toward him.

Sasuke is still standing there, his black hair glistening under the moonlight. He takes a few steps towards you.

"If you refuse to join, then I have no choice but to bring trouble to you."

He declares, coldness in his voice.

"Are you blackmailing me?"

"If that's what you think, then, yes, it is. You know that i am a no ordinary person, don't you? I am able to find where you work, so of course i will be able to find more about you. Everything you have hidden well so far will be exposed. Do you wish to take up that risk?"

You contemplate for a while.

"Think carefully, (name)"

He makes his final remark and leaves you alone in the dark.

You clench your fist tightly.

'What is wrong with him?!'
