Chapter 87

You blink a few times out of disbelief.

What is going on?

What did you hear?

Is this even real?

Tobirama raises his eyebrow.

"What? Don't you want to hug your father?"

"N-no! That's not it! It's just... Weird... Do you forgive me, dad? Really?"

A sigh slips out of the man's lips.

"Why, (name)? After all these years, have you lost your faith in me?"

You frown.

"No! That's not it!"

"The day after you left, I was mad. Very mad. I ordered so many people to search for you, though all ended up with failure. Some of my men were even beaten by a bunch of unknown guys. I believe that it was all because of Utakata. That boy would do anything to protect you, so he must've hired some skilled people to take care of you."

Utakata keeps his head low. He doesn't realize that his father knew.

You also decide not to say anything. Though you are curious if all your father's men were beaten by Hidan and Konan. Are they really that strong?

Suddenly, Tobirama starts pacing around the living room, his face illuminated by the dimly crackling fireplace.

"However, last month, I found out that Utakata went to Konoha without informing me. When we talked about it, he told me about your situation over there."

He stops right in front of you, his face is wearing a pained expression.

"It pains me, (name), to hear that you had to go through all those hardships. And all of that was because of me. I couldn't atone enough. I wanted to bring you back, but Utakata told me not to. He said you'll be back after you settle what you need to do. And now, here you are. I'm so sorry, my daughter, for all the things that I have done."

Gently, Tobirama grabs your hand and pulls you into a hug. It is so warm, so full of love, just like how you remember it.

He's your father...

You also slowly reply his hug.

You miss him, so much. Even after two years, nothing has changed.

Then, Tobirama pats your back.

"Now, that's enough. We have a guest here."

He pulls off the hug.

"Utakata, bring (name) to her room. I bet she's tired. She needs to rest."

Utakata simply bows towards his father.

"Yes, dad."

With a smile, you then part with your father and follow Utakata to your room upstairs. It has been so long, you almost forget the decorations in your own house.

Utakata leads you towards the stairs and upon reaching the second floor, you tilt your head a bit to be able to see the center of the house on the first floor. This house is designed like a hotel, whereby the second floor is like a hallway in a loop. All rooms are on the second floor except for the master bedroom. From where you're walking, you can see both Tobirama and Fugaku talking with each other downstairs. Both are speaking in a serious manner.

Just what are they talking about...?

"We're here, (name)."

Your curiosity is stopped by Utakata's voice. You then turn to look at him.
