Chapter 33

The next day.

You attend the school as usual, despite feeling down and sad at what happened yesterday. Of course, you were hesitant to attend, but you never want to skip school, so yeah.

You walk along the familiar hallway to your classroom, feeling a little lonelier than usual. Well, usually sakura and ino would be with you, but not today.

'I wonder where they are.' The question popped into your mind.
But you shove it away.

After putting your bag on your chair, you head to the canteen to grab some breakfast. It's still early so you still have some time.

So you go to have your breakfast for the first time in two months.

At the canteen, a yakisoba bread immediately catches your attention. You stretch out your hand to grab it, but someone's hand also grabs the same bread.

You look up to see yuri staring blankly at you. Then, she immediately smiles.

"Oh, (name)! Good morning!" She says cheerfully, her face brightens at the sight of you.

Meanwhile, you are only able to stare at her with no response.

"Sorry about that. You can take that one. I'll take another bread."

She says, and you are only able to mutter a "thank you" for her.

She smiles again and you are instantly captivated by her.

So beautiful.

"It's okay. Anyway, who you are here with?" Yuri asks while looking around. Maybe she thinks that you are here with one of your friends.

"Alone." You answer her question coldly, sounding a little lonely and hurt.

You take the yakisoba bread and take out your money to pay for it, but suddenly yuri stops your hand.

"Aunty, how much are these?" She asks the canteen owner and later pays for your breakfast as well.

You are extremely dumbfounded by her kindness.

"Yuri, thank you."

That is the only word you can say after being shocked by the girl's sudden friendliness.

"Don't worry. It's not a big matter. Anyway, since you're alone, why don't you come and join us? It's just the two of us anyway. It'll be great if you join."

....us...?

'Does that 'us' includes sasuke?'

That question echoes repeatedly in your head. You really want to ask, but you won't.

"Never mind. I'm cool."

Actually, you just want to avoid meeting sasuke.

He really annoys you that just thinking about him makes your heart hurt.

"Oh, come on." Yuri grabs your arm.

"It's just for a while, alright."

She then pulls you out of your will.

"See. No one else is here." Yuri ceases her steps along with you.

Then, you are surprised to see neji sitting there instead of sasuke.

Why is she with neji?

"Sasuke is not here?"

The question unconsciously comes out of your mouth.

Yuri smiles.

"Nope. He was running late, so we left without him."

"...I see...."

You are actually very surprised that he is not with her.

"Anyway, sit, (name). You don't mind having her here, don't you, neji-kun?"

Neji takes a glance at you.

"Why would i? She's not a stranger."

At that remark, you bow at him and then sit beside yuri. Neji is a year older than you and he is a very quiet person, so you never actually had a private conversation with him.

Well, he is kinda scary...

"Anyway, (name)-chan, do you enjoy living in Konoha?"

"Huh...?"

The sudden random topic absolutely caught you off guard.

I mean, why out of the blue?

"Y-yeah... I guess so. Why?"

"Nothing. Just asking. I'm glad if you're having a great time here. Therefore, you won't leave konoha, right?"

You stun for a while at her sudden question.

Why...?

Yuri then notices that you are quiet, so she turns to look at you.

She puts up an awkward smile as she sees your reaction.

"Oh! Sorry about that. You must've been surprised, right?"

She laughs shyly.

"It's just that, everyone loves having you here and it soothes my heart seeing them that way. I know that they really appreciate you, and trust me, so do i. That's why i wish that you will still be here with each and every one of them, since i don't know how long i am able to stay. You're a good friend to them, (name), and i hope that you will always be that way."

Yuri says sincerely, the smile never leaving her face.

You can only clench your fist in confusion.

'What is wrong with this girl...?

Why is she saying all these stuff...?

Why am i hating myself...?

Why... Can't i hate her...?'

All those questions keep intertwining in your head.

It's weird.

She is the most important person in sasuke's life.

Because of her, sasuke forgot all about you.

She is also the person that snatched all the attention that was once yours.

With her around, it's like you don't exist at all, so why...?

Why can't you hate her...?

Yuri's attention changes when she sees a familiar handsome figure walking from behind you.

She makes a confused face.

"Sasuke...?"

You startle when you hear his name. Now, this, is weirder.

There is always a stinging pain on your heart whenever you hear someone saying his name. It's like there are thousands of needles picking from the inside of your heart.

Hence, you don't turn around even when you know that he is right behind you.

You don't dare to look at his face.

Never.

Meanwhile, sasuke stops right beside the table where you are sitting. The attentions and gazes from students at the cafe are already his.

Everyone is looking at him.

"I searched for you at your classroom, the gathering room, nurse's office, and everywhere. But you're here?"

Yuri looks at sasuke, dumbfounded at his sudden nagging.

"But, i told you I'd be here, right?"

Sasuke glances at her.

"Not you."

He then grabs your shoulders and turns your back that is against him to look at your face.

"I'm talking to this ignorant girl."
