Chapter 63

"Are you okay, (name)?"

A question drags you back to reality.

You blink your eyes a few times and then stare at the guy that is sitting in front of you.

The red-haired male looks so worried, with his green iris giving you a concerned stare and a visible frown on his forehead.

You simply smile at him.

"Nothing. I was just daydreaming."

The guy sighs.

"Are you sure? Aren't you tired? We've been walking since morning and it's getting hotter these days, since we're getting close to spring. You might catch a fever, you know."

You giggle.

"Oh my, gaara-kun. You always worry about things for no reason."

You slowly flick his forehead.

"I don't get sick easily, you know. Don't be so worried."

Gaara then creates a smile on his lips as well.

"Very well then."

He grabs your hand and grasps it tightly while putting it to his cheek. The skinship is rather natural now between both of you. Maybe you've gotten much more comfortable with each other.

He rest his cheek on your hand that is in his palm.

"I'm just concerned about you, that's all. You are always so kind, and never tell anyone whenever you're tired or sick, so i think i need to always keep a check on you. It's partially my fault that we only have the chance to get out like this only in this season, you know. I somehow feel guilty."

His sincere words tenderly and lovingly touches your heart. It's amazing how he is always able to make you feel better.

It's weekend, and gaara came back to konoha after three weeks staying in Suna. In other words, you haven't seen him in three weeks, only communicating through messages and phone calls. Today is the only day he is free from his duties, so you decided to go out.

Well, he still need to go back to Suna tonight though.

Somehow, you also starts to feel guilty.

"I don't mind, gaara-kun. It's not your fault that you're busy. Plus, i believe that i am the one who brings trouble to you. You have to go back to suna tonight. You must've been tired."

"No, not at all."

He answers immediately.

Gaara slowly moves your hand again and uses both his palms to hold it tight this time.

He then smiles kindly at you.

"Because i wanted to meet you. Plus, I've recharged now. I'm all energized."

The final sentence is said with a wink.

You can't help but to blush at his statement.

This guy... Has become so much bolder than how he was. He used to be so shy and innocent, but now... He is brave enough to say all those things.

Well, it's true that his honesty is part of his personality, but... Sometimes it makes you think as well.

'Is he changing because of me...?'

"Your food is here."

Your thought is disturbed by the sudden voice of a waiter that comes to deliver your food.

Briskly, gaara lets go of your hand and you move it towards your lap.
