(Sasuke X Reader) The Eyes That Capture

Chapter 50

Akatsuki restaurant.

You trudge towards the kitchen with a customer's order in your hand. Every step that you take is so heavy that you feel tired just by walking.

As you reach the kitchen, you put the order on the table and slowly walk out.

All of your caring co-workers absolutely notice your down behavior, but they pretend not to. It is not a suitable time to ask you about it since you're still working.

And as usual, hidan is the most concerned of all.

"Oi, (name). Gimme that."

He says, as he stands in front of you to block your ways. His hands are trying to take away the tray in your hands, but you slightly avoid him.

"Never mind. I can carry it."

Hidan sighs.

"Stop being so stubborn, damn it. I know you're in a shitty mood, and I'm not going to ask since you'll never tell me what the fvck just happened, but at least, let me help. It hurts as hell to see you mope like this."

With those words, hidan smoothly takes the tray away from you. And just like that, he leaves.

Your eyes get teary after you listen to his words. You never know why, but hidan is always the one that shows excessive concern towards you. And this time, it touches right at the spot where it hurts the most.

For 2 years, no one shows any interest or concern towards you. And one day, someone did.

But then, that person turns out to be the one that hurts you the most as well.

Such an irony.

The person that gives you the most happiness also becomes the one that gives you the most pain.

It hurts so much.

So much that no words can express it.

"(Name), are you okay?"

This time, konan is the one that comes and approach you.

You wipe the tears on your cheek and smile at her.

"Yes, I'm okay."

However, konan shows you a worried expression.

"Listen, (name). If it is too much for you, feel free to talk to me. I'll be glad to listen. Can you share? I know i can't make any difference, but at least, your heart will feel lighter."

Your eyes become wet again.

"Then, can we talk after work?"

Konan smiles sweetly at you.

"Alright, then. Let's talk after work."

With the promise made, both of you continue to do your work at the restaurant.

Work is over.

You and konan are now sitting in fast food restaurant so that you can talk in private. If not, other staffs of akatsuki would also listen.

After ordering your food, you sit on a table quite far from people. Then, while eating, konan starts the conversation.

"So, (name). What actually happened?"

The question makes you stop sucking your drink.

You put aside your glass and look at konan with a smile on your face.

"I think you know the cause."

She sighs.

"Sasuke, is it?"

You simply nod.

"What happened this time?"

Your vision starts to become blur as tears gather around the corner of your eyes.

You move you gaze towards the table and your hand plays with your phone. Trying to tell the story means you need to reminisce everything again, and that is not easy.

You then take a deep breath to gain strength to start your story.

"Last christmas, we spent the day together. All day, acting like a couple. He acts like it was real, treating me kindly and did everything i wanted to. At the end of the day, we even kissed."

Konan startles.

"K-kiss?"

You nod.

"After that incident, i couldn't forget him at all. Whenever i close my eyes, i see him. Whenever i am alone, i think of him. Even when I'm sleeping, i dream of him. I thought about it for a few days, and finally i realized. I already fell for him."

Konan is too speechless to even respond. She can somehow predicts what will happen next already, so she dare not to ask.

Meanwhile, you continue the story.

"When we got back to school, I've decided that i will tell him about my feelings. But he wasn't there when i looked for him. He even acted very differently from before. He avoided me and didn't talk to me at all. When the school is over, i chased for him. I tried to confess, but he stopped me, saying that he was tired. Then the conversation was left hanging like that for a week. However, ealier today, i saw him going to the rooftop. I wanted to talk to him anyway, so i followed him. And then, i-..."

The sentence trails off as you are unable to continue. You try to blink back the tears that threaten to overcome you.

Konan holds your hand tightly.

"It's okay. Tell me slowly."

She says with a smile on her face.

Somehow, it soothes you.

"Thank you."

Then, you move on with the story.

"I confessed."

Konan remains silent for a while.

"He stopped me for a few times, but i confessed anyway. And you can guess what happened next."

Before you realize it, your eyes have been wet with tears. You keep wiping the tearsdrops away, but it keeps on falling.

You are too much in agony to hide it.

Truth is, you are too hurt to hide it.

Konan moves her chair to sit beside you. She pats your back and hugs you tight in order to calm you down.

"It's okay, (name). Everything will be fine in the end. You have me, you have your friends, and you have everyone from akatsuki. We love you and we will support you. But you need to tell us when things are too hard, okay? Then only we will be able to help."

You want to answer, but your throat is too raw with pain for you to speak. Your voice won't even come out.

In the end, you just cling onto konan's shoulder as your answer.

She understands it, so she just keeps hugging you with a smile on her face.

For the first time in two years, you are crying like this in front of someone. All the hardships that you have gone through before come flooding again. It's as if you're releasing all the sadness that you have kept to yourself for such a long time.

However, you do not realize about the presence of a guy who's sitting behind you. He has been listening from the start, and he can absolutely empathize.

Then, he slowly gets out and grabs his phone.

He dials the usual contact that he always calls and like before, he reports everything to the person that deserves to know.
