Chapter 10

A week has passed since you first met them. Everything is still the same. However, the math competition's questions are still unanswered fully by all of you as they are so hard to the point of brain exploding. Even you have lost the mood to focus on them.

"Man, this is such a pain. "

Shikamaru mumbles alone.

"What are you complaining about?"

Temari pokes her head to his side, trying to figure out what's going on.

"Look at this question. Triangle ABC has AC = BC with <ABC is equal to 96°. D is a point in ABC such that <DBA = 30°. What is the measure (in degrees) of <ACD?"

Shikamaru holds out his answer sheet.

"I found the angle for <CAB but not <ACD. Now my head is confused how to reorganize the information. God, it has been a long time since I've pushed my brain to this extent."

Temari scans through the question and shikamaru's answer as he grumbles.

"Look at this."

She points towards his paper.

"You got half the method right. Now, we can use the sine rule to solve the AB. Assume that AC and CB is equal to 1. Then, you can use the AB to solve for DA. The ACD triangle is an isosceles triangle, see. You can continue from there, right?"

Temari shifts her gaze to the amazed-looking shikamaru.

"Y-yeah... I didn't notice that. Thanks, by the way."

He mutters the words reluctantly, his eyes keep averting hers.

Temari smiles.

"Of course. Tell me whenever you have another problem and I'll help you, you crybaby."

Shikamaru's eyes widen.

"Me what?!" He raises his voice.

Ignoring the whining shikamaru, temari gets back to her seat and continues her procrastinated work.

All of you right now are at shikamaru's house. It is the weekend, but you guys haven't make a lot of progress despite the upcoming dateline, so you have no choice but to complete the quest as soon as possible.

Temari is the one who decides to gather at shikamaru's house to carry on their project. Even though he complains a bit, saying that it is such a pain, but he welcomes all of you anyway.

You glance at the clock.

"It's 7 p.m already. "

You say, shocked by the fast flow of hour. You have been so carried away in answering the question that you lost your track of time. Lucky that you have cancelled your shift for today.

A smile occurs on your lips as the moment of you asking for leave yesterday flashes in your mind.

*flashback*

"Whaaaaaaat?!! You're taking a leave?!!" Tobi asked, surprised by your decision.

"Why, [name]? Are you sick?"

Deidara put his hand on your forehead to check your temperature. Slowly, you pushed his hand away.

"No, I'm not sick. I'm super healthy, you know. It's just that, i have some work to do. Yahiko has already approved my request so I'll take the day off tomorrow."

You tried to explain briefly.

"By the work you mean, does that regular brat is involved?"

Sasori asked, referring to sasuke.

You averted their gaze.

"W-well, yes, he is."

"OH MY LORD, [NAME], ARE YOU GUYS ON A DATE?!"

Mei questioned excitedly that Hidan almost choked while drinking.

"Shit, that brat sure has a ball, trying to take our [name] on a date. I'll teach him a lesson someday. By the way, bring this with you, [name]. It's for protection, just in case."

Hidan said as he handed out a jack knife from his pocket.

"Hell no! I'm not bringing that!"

"Then, take this." Tobi interjected while giving you a taser gun.

"No way! Where did you even get that?"

"Then, [name]! Take me with you! I'll protect you no matter what." Hidan declares enthusiastically.

"Make it an us!" Tobi joined him.

You smacked your head in anger plus embarrassment. Then, sasori butts in.

"God, you two together are so gross, I can't bear it anymore. Poor (name)."

Your heart soothed a bit when someone understood you.
You smiled at him.

"Thanks, sasori. By the way, I'm not going on a date. We have a school work to be done and not only the two of us but there are FIVE of us. Don't worry. Nothing will happen, alright. So please, take care of my part while I'm not here. Thank you very much for your help."

You sighed helplessly and went out of the room.

"What are you smiling at?"

Sasuke's question brings you back to reality. You blink a few times at him.

"O-ohh, nothing. It's just that something funny came to mind. Forget it. Are we done for today?"

You inquire as you see they are packing their stuff.

"Yes, we're done for the day. Let's continue tomorrow at temari's house."

Sasuke answers you. You simply nod and also start to pack your stationeries. However, you don't notice the curious looking eyes that are watching you. He wonders to himself.
