The first thing you saw was a glowing red Galra symbol shining on the wall beside you. You sat up immediately, and realized you were on a lab table that Haggar was strapping you down to. The cold purple metal chilled your skin, and you shivered, unable to watch what Haggar was preparing.
"The ether finally wore off, I see," she purred as small metal objects clinked together in her hands. She walked over and pressed a few buttons, and the lab table flipped over, a hole opening on the bottom—now the top—in the area of your shoulder.
Haggar pulled open a syringe full of a glowing substance, and she grinned evilly, the gesture chilling you more than the metal of this prison. She carefully injected the needle into your shoulder, then, ever so carefully, pressed down, the fluid surging into your veins.
Surprisingly, it didn't hurt as much as you expected. Your legs were wobbly, and you felt a bit light-headed, but she then permitted you to walk (with guards, obviously) back to your cell, where the Paladins were sitting in a circle, making plans and quiet small talk to occupy themselves. Only Allura and Coran were not included in this circle, and judging by the large gap in the circle, you were pretty sure they had excused themselves.
Shiro stood immediately upon your return, and helped you down gently to sit with the others.
"Are you okay?"
"Pretty good, actually."
He put his flesh arm around your shoulder, and you could feel how tense he was. You were tense too, neither of you enjoyed being back in prison with the witch. The other paladins were more sure of themselves, and you snapped back to your conversation as Shiro asked, "What did they do?"
You frowned and told him, "Just injected me with... some kind of glowing stuff, and let me go."
Shiro's brow furrowed in confusion, and you couldn't help but stare at the adorable face he made when confused. You rested your head against the wall, and looked up, and you gasped. A huge decapod was crawling through twisted metal, its pincers snapping at you.
"(Y/N)! What is it?" Shiro's worried voice penetrated your panic. You pointed upwards shakily, but when he looked up, all he said was, "I think you're hallucinating, you should get some rest, alright?"
You nodded mutely and tried to sleep, but suddenly, the Paladins disappeared. Allura rose from the corner into a Zethnok, a hideous creature on your planet that was practically invincible. You shuddered, and an invisible hand shook you by the shoulders. You, feeling the mismatched strength of flesh and metal, realized it was Shiro, but your tongue locked and you couldn't cry out.
You curled up in a ball and rocked, the whirling visions endless and horrifying. Suddenly, a gentle hand pulled you into a hug, and a metal one ran its fingers through your soft hair. Vaguely, through the screams and shrieks of the monsters, you heard a rough voice start singing. The voice sounded good, just disused is all. It was a song you didn't recognize, but was pleasant anyway.

First winter snowfall
Throwin' backyard snowballs
Warmin' up by the fireplace
Marshmallows catch fire on an open flame
All my friends get together
Wishin' I was there but I never
Living in the sunshine oh
But dreamin' of a place called home
I wanna run, wanna run away, hey
I'm dreaming of a place called home,
I could try but I'm stuck here today,
Dramin' of a place that's 3000 miles away
Feels like it's forever
Seems like yesterday
We were running 'round town together
This place just ain't the same
I miss the stormy weather
I'm not okay
3000 miles away
You don't pick up but I keep redialing
'Cause you're asleep got your phone on silent...
(Easter egg: this song is called 3000 Miles, and it is my CMV song!)

The song finally pulled you into a uneasy sleep, and you couldn't help but feel at least a little bit at home, surrounded by Shiro's familiar smell and his strong arms wrapped around you, giving you rest from the visions and hallucinations, and giving you hope for the future.

What's this? An update? YES!! Anyway, thanks for reading, see ya next time my lil' puffs!
