Chapter 7- We can’t stop cruising

Cameron was walking with a wet Ally in his arms towards his car. His t-shirt was soaked with water and his car seats would probably be too if Ally went home with him. In her defense, he totally deserved this after what he’s little prank had caused. He unlocked his car from a little device on his hand and an alarming sound occupied the parking lot. Her head snapped up in the direction of the sound.

“Is this your car?” She asked as they reached his car.

She was shocked to see a BMW X5 right in front of her. Wow. Someone was hell of a rich. Her own car which she truly loved was a peasant in front of this beauty. It probably was worth a 100 grand. She knew he was quite rich but she never guessed he would be this rich.

“Ugh...Yes. Now will you open the door?”  He said with a blank expression on his face. She opened the passenger door and Cameron put her down on her seat.  She took a quick look at the interior of the car while Cameron took the driver’s seat.  It was beautiful. Black leather seats, wooden dashboard, touch screen stereo and what not.  It probably was worth more than her house.

“I wouldn’t want to ruin your expensive car seats with water. You know, I can still drive.”  Yes, she had wished earlier that she would love to ruin his car seats but that was before she knew it would be a BMW.

Cameron slammed his  door and slipped into the driver’s seat. They both buckled up their seat belts.

“Don’t be too stubborn, Parker. It is fine.” He said as he started to drive.

“But…”

“No I am not listening to you.” He said cutting her off. He turned on the radio and rose the volume to full. Ally sighed in defeat. He was as stubborn as her.

It’s our party we can do what we want.' The words blasted through the speaker.

Ally’s eyes lit up in happiness and she jumped in her seat. “This is my jam!” she said as she started moving her body to the beat of the song. She loved party tracks. She wasn’t much of a fan of slow songs unless they had some meaningful lyrics.

“What? I hate this song.” Cameron said turning the volume down. But iit wasn’t enough.

“Red cups and sweaty bodies everywhere. Hands in the air like we don’t care.” Ally started shouting the lyrics to Cameron just to annoy him.

“You’re horrible! Stop singing!” he said with a pissed off expression on his face. He looked cute when he was angry. She just laughed and continued to annoy him.

“Cause’ we came out to have so much fun now got somebody here might get some now.” She shouted waving both of her hands in front of his face. He slapped her hands away and steered the car saving them from hitting someone.

Cameron changed the radio station not being able to handle any more. But being the stubborn girl she was, she put it back on.

“If you keep doing this, I am not going to drop you home.” He said as he changed the station again.

Ally frowned and slumped back to her seat. “Douche bag.” She muttered under her breath. She was just trying to have some fun and annoy him. But looks like someone is not fun at all.

After a commercial, a new song came that she recognized instantly. It was ‘Cruise’ by Florida Georgia Line. She loved this track but she refrained herself from singing it because she really wanted to go home. So she just tapped her feet to the floor. She glanced at Cameron from the corner of her eyes and caught him smiling with his eyes on the road. He looked nice with a genuine smile on his face. She looked away to avoid being caught staring. The windows of the car were closed and she was just looking at the trees.

“I like this song.” He said with his eyes still on the road.

“Yeah. I like it too.” She resumed looking out the window. She was humming the lyrics of the song but in a very low voice.

A hand reached to her hair and pulled her rubber band out. She turned around to look at Cameron who instantly put it in his pocket. He had smug look on his face.

“What the hell? Give it back you moron.” Her hair was now falling over her face and they were completely messy and wet. She was beyond annoyed by his actions.

She hopped right up into the cab of my truck and said

"Fire it up, lets go get this thing stuck"

''Baby you're a song, You make me wanna roll my windows down 'n' cruise, Down a back road blowin' stop signs through the middle, Every little farm town with you.'' Just on timing with these words Cameron rolled the windows down as he sang those lyrics.

Her hair started flying backwards as wind hit her face. She smiled a little at him and ran her fingers through her hair. He wasn’t looking at her, he was just looking forwards with an amused expression on his face.

“That was so corny.” She said avoiding looking at him.

“Yeah. But you liked it, didn’t you?”

“No, I didn’t.” she lied. Of course,  she liked it. It was a cute and corny gesture.  But would she admit it? Never in a million years.

“Don’t lie. And that does two things. One, Makes you look good. Two, Dries your hair.”

She didn’t say anything to that. She just laughed at him. Although she was overwhelmed by his compliment she didn’t really know how to react to compliments. It was silent for a few moments, then she heard his voice from beside.

“She hopped right into my truck and said fire it up let’s go get this thing straight.” He was singing the song loudly tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.

Confusion spread across her face as she looked at him. Where did that come from?

“Come on, Dorky. Sing with me!” he said looking at her.

Ally was more than happy doing that. She excitedly sang with him. They both jammed out to the song and laughed. They even did a weird car dance. She was happy to see him enjoying a bit. They were pretending as if they were performing on stsge.

Soon they reached Ally’s home. She had completely enjoyed the car ride with him. It was fun jamming out to the songs in a car. He didn’t make her feel uncomfortable or like she was bothering him. And the best part, she was actually happy.

“Thanks for the ride.” She said with a smile on her face as she opened the car door.

Just when it opened ‘Thrift shop’ started playing on the radio. Don’t you hate it when your favorite song comes up on the radio when you’ve reached your destination? That’s what exactly happened with Ally.

She closed the car door and turned to Cameron. “Okay I’ll go after this song. I fucking love this song!”

Cameron just laughed at her childish behavior as they both high fived each other. He had never met a music lover of this kind.

“Alright, let’s do this then.” He said to her as they began their yet another jamming session.
