26. Holidays

When the Christmas holidays came around my mother wanted me home so the calls began. Hannah and her mom Margaret would be going to see their family. Anne wouldn't be around either so that meant that I would be all alone in the house.

Kevin wanted me to stay with him for the holiday but then I wanted to spend time with my mom the same way he would be spending time with his family. My grandparents wouldn't be around because they picked this Christmas holiday to go for a vacation which meant that mom would be alone. I know she started dating so she wouldn't be completely alone but we always spend Christmas together.

I woke up to some kind of commotion. I opened my eyes and looked around the room to see Kevin rushing about. I looked at the alarm clock and it was one in the morning

"What are you doing up this early?"

"There's an emergency at the hospital"he said as he tried to pull down his shirt over his head "There was an accident and they need man power"

"Ok, drive safely" I mumbled going back to sleep

Just when I was about to get back to sleep I heard him call my name. Not my name exactly because it's Kevin we're talking about here

"What?"

"Wake up you need to lock the door"

"Ok. I'll lock it after you leave"

"No you won't. Come on"

I sighed and made a face that showed him that I wasn't happy. I followed him to the door and he gave me a kiss on the cheek before rushing out. I quickly locked it and went back to bed

The next time I opened my eyes the sun was up and Kevin wasn't back yet.

I got dressed and went out to get some coffee. I didn't feel like being indoors alone.

I took the long way as a way of comforting myself for the exercise I never do. I made my order making sure to order for Kevin too just in case I found him home. There were quite a few people before me so I decided to look for a seat

I saw someone waving at me from across the room and I realised it was Vanessa. I walked over to where she was

"Hey"

"Hey" she greeted "Take a seat"

"Thanks"

I had met her a couple of times since that day and I had come to like her. She was with someone today. A girl who looked younger than her and from the resemblance it had to be her sister

"Hey" I smiled

"Hey" she chirped "You''re so pretty"

I blushed at her comment "Thanks. You're pretty too"

"Not to sound full of myself but I know"

"Oh my gosh"

"What"

"That's exactly how you sound" Vanessa said shaking her head

"But It's true. You think I would be popular in school if I wasn't" She sighed "You can go ahead and blame the goddess of beauty for blessing me with these amazing looks"

"Forgive my sister she can be a little too over the top sometimes"

Her sister simply shrugged "My name is Diane by the way"

"It's nice to meet you Diane and I suppose you already know my name"

She nodded "Yeah how could I not"

It was at that time that I heard my name. My order was ready "It was nice talking to you guys. See you around"

"Yeah sure" Vanessa smiled
