Even when you were together his pride amused you; even now when you politely declined his offer to go for a walk.

"No.You can't walk with me 'cause that's too dangerous for a human to be near a monster." His voice became meaner and his left cheek twitched involuntarily.
Oh,he is such a jerk sometimes.You stepped forward and wrapped your arms around his neck pulling him to yourself.Though he was heavy enough for you to move him so you had to lean forward.
"No." You spoke when you broke the kiss reluctantly. "You're not a monster."
