It was just a blurry, shadowy picture

It was just a blurry, shadowy picture. A dream? A faint scene... At first I felt anger. Why? Then I felt fear. Fear for something really important... And then pain. A lot of pain. I was exhausted... Peace. Nothing............................... Then something happened. Something...

- Keep up, son! - Dad told me, so I did. I quickly started jumping up the rocky path from behind, catching up with my father in no time. As I passed the muscular lion with that incredible mane of his, I rubbed against his legs. I purred with excitement.

- Is it gonna be cool? - I asked, still struggling to keep up.

My dad smiled.

- It's gonna be amazing! - he promised.

- Can you see Urembo Meadows from there? - my sister loved that place. Kiara and Zuri told me about it a lot. They said it was really beautiful and there was a lot of flowers. My dad of course knew the place too. Right? He was the king.

Whenever my dad laughed, I felt the need to laugh aswell, it really cheered me up. Like now.

- Yes, Kion - he answered. - Believe it or not, you can see everything.

- Everything? - I asked in disbelief. We did come a long way up...

- Everything, that matters - Dad nodded. - The entire Pride Lands.

I could barely contain all the excitement. I wanted to start jumping again...

As we made our way higher and higher, I looked at my father. He seemed so big, so mighty! I loved the way the wind ruffled his red mane. It was cool! I respected him, I loved him!

But there were those ugly lines. The smaller one on his leg, and the long one on his side, only two of the many, hidden under the short fur.

- What are those? - I asked, looking at them. He glared at me with confusion on his face, but quickly realised what I was talking about.

- These? - he asked. - These are my trophies, Kion.

- Trophies? - I couldn't believe my ears. These, thropies?
