I'm Y/N, I am 12 years old, and I am adopted! I love my family, and I don't know what happened to my old parents but I hope they're ok. My friend Tom and I have been hanging out for a very long time. He's and Prince and I'm a peasant . He told his parents about my parents looking for jobs, he let mom and dad have a job at castle and they even let us stay there. Tom and I were very excited because we could spend more time together! I started to grow a crush on him, but we can't be together because royalty can't be with peasants.
We were playing tag in the garden after Tom was finished with his music lessons. "Ha I got you!" I yell "Darn it! I'm going to get you!" He yells and starts chasing me. "No you're not!" He yells "Y/N! Come in please I need you to help me with something!" Mom yells "Coming mom!" I yell Tom and I stop "Sorry Tom I have to help my mom." I say with a sad smile, "It's ok Y/N we can hang out later! I'm sad that we have to stop but we can always hang out! You live here anyways!" He says "Ok! See ya later Tom!" I say and give him a hug. I walk inside and help my mom.
Toms POV I watch Y/N go inside and I smile, I really like her, but we can't be together because of the stupid Royals can't be with peasants rule. I frown to myself and walk inside after Y/N is gone.
*Present day* H Your POV
I'm cleaning the tables with a cloth while Tom watches me. "Come onnnnn Y/N take a breaaakkk." He says "First of all, Thomas, I am a maid I work here and I can't just stop, I have work to do." I say playfully and smile at him. "Pleeeeeaaaasssseeee." He whined " I caaaaaaaaannnnttt." I reply copying his tone. "Plus don't you have lessons to get to? Your music teacher is waiting for you in the music room." I say "She can wait." He says and smiles at me "Thomas Stanley Holland. Go practice your piano right now." I say "Your not my mom." He says and pouts "But I am." Queen Nicola says behind me " Your majesty." I say and curtsy "Hello Y/N." She says and smiles at me, I smile back, "Hello mom." Tom says "I actually came here to tell you the music teacher canceled, her sister just gave birth and wanted to be there for her." She says with a smile. "Awwwwww!" I say and keep cleaning the table. "Ok thank you mom." Tom says and she walks away. "Please take a break Y/N! Harry and Sam are busy and Paddy is also busy with his lessons." Tom says "Tom I would love to, but I can't. I have work to do." I say "Listen when I finish I will hang out with you later ok?" I say "Fine." He whines "Thank you." I say and go back to cleaning, He just smiles and walks away.
Tom POV I wander the halls until someone calls me. "Prince Thomas" my butler says "Yes?" I ask "You're father wants you in the throne room." He says "Ok. Thank you." I reply and smile at him. He smile back and goes back to his duties.
I walk to the throne room and see my dad. "You called me Dad?" I ask "Yes son." He says and motions me over to him. I walk over to him. "Son... you're 21 now. You will be King soon, your mother and I will soon retire the crown to you. And you need a queen to help you rule the kingdom. In a few days there will be a ball, and at the ball princesses will come and you will choose your wife." He says "But Dad, I have to choose someone I love not just on the spot!" I say "Son, this is for you and the kingdom. You have to." He says "But-!" I start "No buts Thomas." He says "Fine." I say and walk away I want Y/N to be there, she's my best friend, I wish I could be with her, but I can't, stupid rules, "Dad?" I say and turn around, "Yes Thomas?" He asks and looks at me, "Can Y/N go to the ball? She's my best friend and I-." I start "Yes she can come. I know she's your best friend." He says and smiles at me "Thank you Dad!" I say and walk away
Your POV While I'm cleaning I think about my life, I was found in the streets by my parents, I wasn't abandoned, I was just there, the only thing I have from my birth parents was a locket that had a picture of me as a baby in it, my adoptive parents took me in, but they died when I was 15, I've stayed with the Royal Family and worked for them. They are so nice, I have feelings for the Prince but I can't be with him.
I finished cleaning the table and went back to my room since I was done with the list that I was given. I plopped myself on the bed and looked at my locket,

I sigh and wonder who my actual parents were. I was only a baby when I was adopted, maybe they just didn't want me... or maybe I was kidnapped? I don't know... I just wonder if they're still alive or not. What if they are? Are they looking for me?
I sigh and lay down on my bed and face the ceiling, thinking about Tom, I still have a crush on him even though it was 8 years ago when I started, but we can never be together, even if we wanted to, but I doubt that Tom likes me as more than his best friend. I get up and take a shower,
I finish showering and get into my clothes, I look at the time and see that it's been 30 minutes, it's already 5:45.
I walk out of my room and to the kitchen and see the other maids, "Hey guys." I say They all look at me "Hey Y/N!" They all say "So what's up?" I ask "We're just talking about the ball that the King is holding for the Prince to look for a queen." Laura says "Ohhhhh." I say "Yeah." Zendaya says "Interesting." I reply and start washing the dishes.
"Hey!" Someone's yells "Hm?" Everyone says "You!" The lady points at me I point at myself and give a confused look. "Yes you! The Prince wants you to be at the ball since you're his best friend." She says and smiles at me, "Oh. Ok thank you ma'am" I reply and she walks away, I stand there in shock and all the other maids come up to me. "Girl you're lucky!" Laura says "Uhhhh" is all I manage to say, "I hope you have fun!" Zendaya says "Thanks girls. But I don't know what just happened..." I say and go back to washing the dishes. "BACK TO WORK CHOP CHOP!" The head maid says Everyone goes back to work while I continue washing the dishes.
