An Unbreakable Vow.

Third person's point of view.

Rayvan was spending the summer with Severus, he hadn't expected to find her company as pleasant as he thought, but she wasn't the worst roommate he could have, then again Wormtail didn't count because he avoided Rayvan like a plague, she scared him more than the Dark Lord, it's understandable, she was fancied by him and anyone that dared to harm her was instantly punished,

Not that she knew that. She was also spending the summer with Severus because of Dumbledore, with Lucius in prison and Draco close to joining Voldemort's fold, Dumbledore needed to keep Rayvan safe and what better place than with his most trusted ally, it was a rainy evening, and Rayvan and Severus were sitting in the parlor reading when someone knocked at the door,

At Rayvan's order, Wormtail answered the door, letting in the two unannounced guests, he took their coats and led them to the parlor, Rayvan would have killed one of the guests if it weren't for Severus, she had shifted her eyes, teeth, and nails, when she saw Bellatrix come in, her hand was instantly around the older woman's throat and was squeezing, "Rayvan, now, now, that's no way to greet someone," he said from behind his newspaper,

Growling she dropped the woman who hid behind her sister, Rayvan looking at Severus, he nodded at Wormtail and she nodded, "Run along now Wormtail," and with the flick of her wrist and wand the door was slammed in his face, when he was gone and after Rayvan poured a glass of wine for Narcissa she had the Malfoy woman sit in her chair, "I-I know I'm not to be here, The Dark Lord himself forbade me to speak of this, but-"

Narcissa said but was cut off by Severus as Bellatrix walked around the room, "If the Dark Lord has forbidden it, you were not to speak," Severus said and turned to tell Bellatrix to put something down, but Rayvan beat him to it, "Put it down, we mustn't touch what isn't ours." When Bellatrix was going to give attitude Rayvan growled and the Lestrange woman put the object back,

"As it so happens, we are aware of your situation Narcissa," Severus said motioning to himself and Rayvan, it was Severus' idea to properly introduce Rayvan to the Dark Lord, she had secretly joined to make sure that what happened in the school would be easily controlled by either herself or Severus, but they weren't going to tell anyone that, "You, the Dark Lord told you two?" Severus looked back at Narcissa,

"Your sister doubts us," Severus said, "It's understandable, well over the years I've played my well, so well I've deceived one of the greatest wizards of all time," Rayvan hid her smirk, the two witches thought he meant Dumbledore but he was really talking about Voldemort, Bellatrix snarled unimpressively, "Dumbledore is a great wizard only a fool would question it," Severus said, while Narcissa never took her eyes off of him or Rayvan.

"I don't doubt you, Severus, or Rayvan." Narcissa said not even blinking, "You should be honored Cissy," Bellatrix said from behind Severus and Rayvan, the young girl kept her eye on the wicked witch, never trusting her, not even for a second, "As should Draco," Bellatrix added before walking back to the mantle, "He's just a boy," Narcissa said, "I can't change the Dark Lord's mind, but it might possible for me and Rayvan to help Draco," Severus said,

"I'd help even without all this," Rayvan said moving over to Narcissa and taking to older woman's hand, Narcissa smiled softly and nodded, knowing this much about the girl that grew up in her home, "Severus," Narcissa started but Bellatrix cut in, "Sware to it," she said, "Make the Unbreakable Vow," she growled out, when Severus didn't jump to do it, Rayvan stepped in front of him,

"I'll do it," everyone looked at her, their eyes were filled with either worry, shock, or skepticism. Bellatrix looked to not believe Rayvan to do it, while Narcissa was shocked but Severus was worried, but this is something Rayvan knew would happen so she was ready for the consequences, holding her arm out for Narcissa the older woman was a bit hesitant, "It's easier for me to help Draco, I'm his age and we have most of our classes together,"

With that Narcissa took hold of Rayvan's hand, wand in hand Bellatrix started, "Will you Rayvan Black, watch over Draco Malfoy as he attempts to fulfill the Dark Lord's wishes?" Rayvan never took her eyes off of the woman that was like a mother to her, "I will," Leaning on Narcissa Bellatrix added, "And will you to the best of your abilities, protect him from harm?" still never looking away she spoke, "I will,"

"And if Draco should fail will you yourself carry out the deed the Dark Lord has ordered Draco to perform." Tears were welling up in Narcissa's eyes by the time Bellatrix finished her question, but Rayvan was unmoving in her decision, "I will," when the glowing vines around their arms faded into their skin, Rayvan let go and so did Narcissa, chuckling at Rayvan, Bellatrix thought she had gotten under the girl's skin,

But Rayvan looked at Bellatrix and with a straight face, snarled and snapped her fangs at her, making the Lestrange witch jump away from her in fear. "Coward." she taunted before moving towards Narcissa and pulling the older woman into a hug, "Thank you, Rayvan." Narcissa said softly in her ear, "Don't thank me yet," she said back before pulling away and moving back over to Severus who set his hand on her shoulder,

Squeezing discreetly the two women were shown out of the house by Wormtail, when Severus knew they wouldn't be heard he gave Rayvan an earful, but she would only say it was so that Severus wouldn't be tortured by the pain of doing it himself, "But it's worse if you do it!" she shook her head, "No it's expected of me, I'm a Black, I'm sure the ministry was just waiting for me to break, I mean my father was a mass murderer, his daughter must be worse, right?"

She said her eyes watering up, "No, you are far better and it's going to kill you to do this," he said hugging her, but she shook her head, "Not if it means I can protect Draco from doing this, I'd rather do it then he, just promise to be there if I break." he nodded, "Of course." she sighed and relaxed, "thank you, Professor," he nodded against her head,
