The Quiet Before the Shit Storm

Graham and I backtraced the number our mysterious young bartender used on his job application. To get the number I had to call and ask David for it.

"How is he?" Graham asked after I spoke with David. "Not great. He's really kicking himself over hiring that psycho. I tried assuring him it wasn't his fault but I can tell it didn't make him feel any better." Graham nods. "He doesn't have to worry. With this number we might be able to find out who he is."

While Graham worked on backtracking the number I went down to the interrogation room. When I walk in I hear Robin laughing and I look up from the file I was reading curiosly. It's only Regina and Robin in the room. Funny, I didn't take Miss. Mills as the crack-jokes-with-prisoners kind  of person.

I open the door and walk in."Everything going well down here?" I ask as I sit down next to Regina. Robin nods "Yes but there's something I need to tell you. I changed my mind about Roland."

"Robin I already told you. I am happy to take care of him until you get back on your feet." I say sensing what he was gonna say. "I know and I appreciate that more than you know but after talking about it with Regina-" Regina?

"Roland is going to stay with me until Robin gets released," Miss. Mills interrupts. What? "Henry and him get along great and all due respect I don't know if ..Regina can handle taking care of a 6 year old. Are you sure?" I ask Robin.

"He is sure Ms. Swan. As he mentioned before, we discussed this." Regina sneers. "I was speaking to Robin. I'm sure he can speak for himself." I say and we both turn towards Robin. "So, who is taking care of your son Robin?" Regina says, ignoring my comment.

Overwhelmed from both of our intense glares, Robing takes a deep breath and waves his hands "Okay. Okay. Let me think," he says. "I know Regina will be great at taking care of Roland. Emma, you don't have to worry. She's kind and I know Roland will love her." Are we talking about the same woman?

"Not to mention, I have a condo right next to central park and  the best daycare in all of Manhattan. Roland will be in great hands." Regina says looking at Robin. "Okay, fine. I'll drop him off today," I say.

Regina smiles. (She actually smiled!) "Thank you. Okay, I have to meet another client across town pretty soon so I'm gonna start heading out." Regina says getting up and smoothing her pencil skirt.

Before Regina could walk out Robin mocks, "You're seeing other people?" Regina opens the door and looks back at him "Never," she says before slipping out.

"Emma, I hope your not upset I chose Regina," Robin says. I shake my head "Of course not. I'm glad she's actually being friendly."

"You should give her a chance Emma. Regina is really helping a lot by doing this case for free. God knows I wouldn't have any chance of being cleared by any judge or juror without her." he says and I can't help but agree.

"You're right. So, how are you?" I ask noticing he doesn't have any new bruises. "Good. Nobody has been bothering me. And by bothering, I mean beating the crap out of."

"That's good but strange. Why would they just stop bothering you all of a sudden?" I ask him. "I don't have the slightest clue. Why? Do you think this could possibly be a bad thing?"

"Two men break into my apartment, steal your file, and suddenly things go quiet. They're planning something." I think out loud. "Maybe it is good Roland is staying with Regina. They haven't broken into her house."

Before I could continue someone opens the door of the interrogation room. The door makes a loud BOOM when it hits the wall. It's Graham. "Emma, you need to see this." he says before running back out.

Robin and I exchange glances. "Oh God, what is it now?" we both seem to think.
