so this idea came to me at around two in the morning while i was trying to sleep so instead of sleeping, i wrote an update and it is now 4:30 in the morning. i don't know how you guys will feel about it but like, idfk i kind of liked how it came out.

{unedited} (really guys i swear i can spell i just type too fast to check my spelling and idk checking my work is too much effort)

I hadn't talked to Hemmings in almost two weeks. That's how long it'd been since I fucked up Vinny. I did know he had two broken ribs, need staples for a crack in his head, a busted jaw, a few minor internal injuries, a sprained ankle and, it's possible that he might never be able to make babies.

Good.

Don't need anymore people like him running around.

I was sitting on the edge of my bed drinking a beer and reading a book for English, when a knock on the door interupted my process.

I sighed obnoxiously, setting my beer down on the nightstand and tossing the book off to the right of me. I opened the door lazily, my eyes nearly popping out of my damn skull when I was greeted by a bandaged Vincent on crutches, looking rather vulnerable.

I just kind of stayed silent and stepped to the side to let him in, even though rationally, I probably shouldn't have. I just was feeling real shitty and didn't feel like putting up any kind of fight.

"Here to beat me up with your crutches, Gimpy?" I asked, my voice left completely monotone.

He chuckled, more sincere than dry, but still a bit dry all the same.

"No, I just needed to talk. To you, specifically."

I wasn't feeling very hostile today, so I didn't try anything and I definitely didn't yell. I just kept thinking of Luke saying 'We're good', and despite the fact that he hadn't talked to me in nearly two weeks, I didn't want things to be not good. Even though they probably already weren't.

I didn't want them to be worse.

So I kind of threw my hand up towards the chair by the desk, letting him know the seat was opening, and he (rather carefully) lowered himself into the chair.

"What'd you wanna talk about, Gimpy?"

He sighed lightly. "Robert."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Excuse me?"

"At one point, when you were beating me relentlessly with your bat, you said 'I bet you don't even know his middle name'. His middle name is Robert. Lucas Robert Hemmings." He said, leaning forwards slightly and tangling his fingers together.

"Oh? Is that is?" I asked, not so much a snarky remark as it was a genuine question.

"His name is Lucas Robert Hemmings. His favorite color is green, even though he claims it changes a lot, green will always be his favorite color. He really likes action movies, like, Liam Neeson movies. Says Liam Neeson is his man crush and that it's not weird that he's old, 'because he's epic as fuck'. He secretly really loves those cheesy romance movies because he's totally an old school romantic, though he won't admit it. When The Vow comes on, he'll sigh real loud like he could care less, but won't turn it off and will watch in all the way through crying like a baby. His favorite food is spaghetti, but he won't eat spaghetti sauce if it has chunks of tomato in it because oddly enough, he hates tomatoes." He ranted, very clearly lost in the thought of Luke.

"He's scared shitless of thunder storms and even though he never comes right out and says it, he can't fall asleep during a storm unless I'm holding him. He'll drive over at three in the morning during a storm just so he doesn't have to be alone. He's also scared of moths. Don't know why, really. He's afraid of the dark, he won't sleep unless I leave the hall light on. His favorite band is All Time Low and even though I can't really stand his music, I let him play it in the car because he'll belt it out at the top of his lungs and wow, Ashton, he has such an amazing voice. Not to mention how happy it makes him. In the morning, he can't drink his coffee unless it's burnt. Yes, you heard me. Burnt. Who likes burnt coffee? He can't eat anything other than eggs and toast for breakfast because he said it 'kills his morning vibe' and I don't know what that means, but I cook that for him every morning that he's at my house. But he likes his toast barely toasted and the eggs real wet. Like, not quite raw, but not fully cooked. It's kind of gross."

At this point he was totally lost in his words and he had a smile etched on his face, and I was starting to lose myself a bit too.

"His dream car is a 1965 Mustang Fastback and he hates my taste in cars because he says new models are for pussies. He can't stand vanilla scented anything. Especially candles. I threw away a really expensive vanilla based cologne just for him. His favorite season is autumn because he loves the ways the trees look and because he can wear sweaters all the time. His favorite holiday is Christmas because he loves to see everyone so happy and together. He tries to say it's Halloween sometimes, and don't get me wrong, he loves Halloween, but you should see the way his face lights up on Christmas day. He's like a child. He's really facinated by street art and even though I think it's really kind of stupid and unnecessary, I like to listen to him talk about it when we see it, anyways. He's in love with Pokemon. I've watched that kid play Leaf Green start to finish in like, nine and a half hours straight. He has to sleep on the left side of the bed because he likes to be the little spoon, but he can't sleep on his right side because it makes him sick. He doesn't care if you don't like him, or anything that he does. But, all the same, he'll make sacrifices for people he cares about. When I first met him, he had gauges almost an inch across and God, they smelled so horrible and I hated them. I used to practically beg him to get them sewn up but he always refused. On our six month anniversary he came home and surprised me with the stitches in his earlobes." He chuckled, and suddenly, suddenly, I was more offended by the fact that Luke was cheating on this guy than the fact that this guy hit Luke a few times.

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's never chill to hit someone that means that much to you. I get in fights, I hit a lot of people, but never anyone that didn't have it coming. And it's totally not chill that Vinny hits Luke. Ever. But wow, if this guy isn't in love with Luke, I'm not sure I'd ever know what love is.

"I could go on for ages, Ashton. I know I make mistakes sometimes. I know I don't deserve Luke. But in fairness, if you want to play that card, no one could ever deserve him. Not in a million years. He's the closest to perfection I've ever seen." He said, a smile so big it looked like it could potentially turn him into a Joker lookalike. "But I know, I know I fuck up sometimes. And I'm trying to stop doing... That. But please, please, don't ever assume that I don't know Luke. And especially don't assume I don't love him."

And suddenly, I just felt completely robbed. Like, I could've found all this out on my own, better and sooner than Vinny did, but he just ruined it for me and I just felt so... Insulted. Like somone punched a hole through my chest, all while I listen to Vinny describe Luke in ways I almost felt I could've potentially described better.

But that didn't change the fact that Luke was cheating on someone who was that in love with him with a guy like me.

Another one of those guys who could never deserve Luke.
